Re: Official Pittsburgh Steelers Thread
I didn’t notice much of a hold though. The refs just let a lot of that go but I guess being a rookie doesn’t earn him any benefits. Especially when you’ve been caught what 3 times before.
The eye test didn’t show that Porter had a good game, but he seemed to on Hopkins all game and held him to 4 catches on 11 attempts for 60 yards (about half on one play). The talent is there, but he needs to learn how to be handsy without getting caught. If he can learn that, I think he’ll be an All Pro caliber CB for a long time.

After last night I’m moving towards #2 when also looking at the defensive penalties which a lot were unforced (when they weren’t just bad calls).DelPen wrote: Mon Oct 30, 2023 3:42 pmThree possibilities with Canada:
1) his schemes are too sophisticated where the QB and WR can’t get on the same page because they incapable of comprehending his genius
2) his schemes are pedestrian but we have the dumbest players in the entire NFL and they can’t execute basics
3) his schemes are total **** and even when executed perfect it results in 7 yards of offense in the first half until we get a 2:00 drill going and he has less influence.
I’m going #3.
If Canada wants to keep his job he needs to simplify the playbook and have Kenny run plays he can actually execute. If that’s running a JV team offense then I guess that’s what he needs to do. The OC needs to adapt his plan to work with who he had and Canada has not done that even with three different starting QB’s over three seasons. Ben is a HOF player and was able to run Canada’s offense but Mitch and Kenny absolutely can’t do it.
I still don’t think Pickett is going to amount to much as a starter in the NFL, Canada certainly isn’t helping but something needs to change because the longer this playbook is being used the worse Pickett looks and he should be looking better.

Re: Official Pittsburgh Steelers Thread
Honestly, I think it's as simple as this. This is a pretty young offense and he does them no favors by being in the booth away from them during the course of the game. Young players need constant coaching while they're growing.DelPen wrote: Fri Nov 03, 2023 9:01 amAfter last night I’m moving towards #2 when also looking at the defensive penalties which a lot were unforced (when they weren’t just bad calls).DelPen wrote: Mon Oct 30, 2023 3:42 pmThree possibilities with Canada:

I think it's no coincidence that the play calling matched the flow of the game and the fundamentals were much better. I think it's also not a coincidence that Pickett had a higher than 60% coompletion.

As bad as Pickett had looked at times at least we didn’t give up multiple first round picks to get Bryce Young like Carolina did.

Especially when you choose him over Stroud. I think he’s legit and will be a franchise QB. I think Young will be Kyler Murray.DelPen wrote: Sun Nov 05, 2023 6:37 pmAs bad as Pickett had looked at times at least we didn’t give up multiple first round picks to get Bryce Young like Carolina did.

Well, Jace Sternberger agrees with number 3. I mean, yeah, who is Jace Sternberger, but fringe NFL players get to look at a lot of playbooks since they keep getting cut. Plus, it syncs up with what we see from week to week.DelPen wrote: Mon Oct 30, 2023 3:42 pmThree possibilities with Canada:

That was a really dumb pass, especially since he threw it over his wide open TE.

Having your OC in person with your young offense is a good thing apparently.Daniel wrote: Sun Nov 12, 2023 1:41 pmWhat changed with this offense? They look competent and prepared.

6 DB’s and you still allow a 30 yard TD pass.

Is there a law against the offense and defense playing well in the same game?

Yes, same with MLB where you can’t have good pitching and hitting or NHL where you cant have good goaltending and goal support.Admin wrote: Sun Nov 12, 2023 2:07 pmIs there a law against the offense and defense playing well in the same game?

Without the big plays, this is a very ordinary defense.
