He was/is the forward equivalent of legendary Ulf Samuelsson. Both won multiple cups. I enjoyed watching them.Antonio wrote:A real warrior. A true Viking of ice hockey.

I remember that game. Natty Hatty in 2 1/2 minutes. Too bad he wasn't allowed to stay in the Burgh. They've not had anyone, since he was traded, who stayed in front of the net like he did.Three Stars wrote:Owner of the fastest hat trick in team history.

Loved the way he played. A lot of us will remember his game winning goal in the 2017 finals as his best goal as a pen, but one that stands out to me was the one in 2016 against the caps on OT when the trickled over to him and he banged home a one timer to win it for us. I remember jumping up and down in my living room at 11:30 at night. Congrats on a well deserved retirement horny.

Re: The Patric Hornqvist career appreciation thread.
One of my all time random NHL obscure facts involves Horny (last overall pick of 2005) playing for multiple years on the same line as Sid (1st overall pick of 2005). Hockey doesn't have the same fascination with "Mr. Irrelevant" as the NFL, but Horny is by far the best player in NHL history who was taken with the last overall pick.
You want another bizarre random fact? Only 4 players taken with the last pick overall went on to play more than 100 games in the NHL... every one of those players was from Sweden.

Thank you Patric for every hit you gave and/or absorbed. One less for Sid and Evgeni.
Your goal saved a city from game 7 final and we salute you. Seriously!

Announced during the game last night - what a great gesture. Honored by the last team he played for with the team he was traded from and won 2 Cups with in attendance. Mike Rupp was saying that although Horny was a Nashville pick and had tenure there, you always celebrate with the team you won with. Which basically makes Horny a Pen for life!DelPen wrote: Tue Nov 28, 2023 8:06 pmPanthers are having their Hornqvist appreciation night next week when the Pens are in town

Can they trade Carter to the NHL retirement home for Horny? I'd take that in a hearbeat.

Trading Neal for him led directly to winning those 2 cups. Absolute warrior. The way he was shipped out sickened me.

Not all big players are big. 5-11 and 190 lbs, he made his living in the crease tipping and dodging pucks while constantly getting a stick jagged in his butt or kidney. Big player in a slightly above average sized body. I'd say that he was tough enough.
Totally deserved of fan appreciation and accolades.
