Moving Erik Karlsson off the point of the power play.
So, we acquire this generation's greatest offensive defenseman who has made a HOF career out of being a power play distributor and move him off of his skillset?
I'm all for trying something new but is this the move that makes sense? Is Erik Karlsson's puck distribution really the reason the power play stinks?

This times 10000. Over the last 10 years, Karlsson is 4th in PPG for defenseman...but you want to say the PP is broken with him running point. Gimme a break, Sully. Go tell Dubas to get you a big bodies net front presence like Lawson Crouse.

Smith has gone 13 games without a goal. Quickly becoming another solid forward who becomes inept when they play for this coach.

Malkin has the opposite effect on wings that Big Ben had on WR’s.KG wrote: Mon Dec 04, 2023 6:58 pmSmith has gone 13 games without a goal. Quickly becoming another solid forward who becomes inept when they play for this coach.

Unusual look for the typical "Letang hits a shinpad and gives up a breakaway" play

He's been part of the PP problem, whether it's because he's been WAY too deferential to passing it back and forth with a stationary forward on the half wall, or he's been "coached" now to keep everything on the perimeter and rarely let it rip or force anything, which he's capable of executing.maopens wrote: Mon Dec 04, 2023 6:47 pmMoving Erik Karlsson off the point of the power play.

It’s almost like he’s being coached wrong and is listening to them.brwi wrote: Mon Dec 04, 2023 7:30 pmHe's been part of the PP problem, whether it's because he's been WAY too deferential to passing it back and forth with a stationary forward on the half wall, or he's been "coached" now to keep everything on the perimeter and rarely let it rip or force anything, which he's capable of executing.maopens wrote: Mon Dec 04, 2023 6:47 pmMoving Erik Karlsson off the point of the power play.

Remember that Sopranos episode where Richie Aprile gave Tony that leather jacket he took off some tough guy and took pride in being able to give Tony such a great gift? Then Richie comes over and see’s the maids husband wearing it?
Richie is Dubas, Tony is Sullivan, the jacket is Karlsson and the PP is the maids husband.

I know where my money is. 3 time Norris winner doesn't just "forget" how to score.DelPen wrote: Mon Dec 04, 2023 7:32 pmIt’s almost like he’s being coached wrong and is listening to them.brwi wrote: Mon Dec 04, 2023 7:30 pmHe's been part of the PP problem, whether it's because he's been WAY too deferential to passing it back and forth with a stationary forward on the half wall, or he's been "coached" now to keep everything on the perimeter and rarely let it rip or force anything, which he's capable of executing.maopens wrote: Mon Dec 04, 2023 6:47 pmMoving Erik Karlsson off the point of the power play.

Re: Official GDT: Pens @ Flyers 12/4/23
And already this isn’t working. THey also didn’t score a single goal practicing it and kept giving up breaks the other way. SO this is in fact EXACTLY what they practiced.
