Sullivan made some interesting comments before the game regarding getting his team rest.
The Penguins had an off day Tuesday and an optional morning skate Wednesday. This has happened on a handful of occasions this season. It didn’t used to be the case.
But then, the Penguins have never been this old.
“Quite honestly, we’re playing four games in seven nights, and we need every ounce of energy to make sure we have success when the puck is dropped at game time,” Sullivan said. “It’s a decision the coaching staff makes well in advance.”
Sullivan makes great sense. It’s smart. But I don’t recall his being so open in the past about preserving his team’s energy. They haven’t had their legs in more than a week.

Wow, the oldest or 2nd oldest team in the league is gassed by December. Who would have ever thought?
