They need to bring back the "free to talk" window anyway.
I don't know why they went away from it. Makes too much sense.

Re: Random Penguins Fodder
Maybe Dubas sits down with Crosby and explains what his game plan is, and how one of the third greatest players to wear a Penguins jersey should re-up with his plan.
Rip the bandage off. Ask him if he is good, with all of his unbelievable career as a Penguins Captain, if he is good with Cup's earned, being a local fan hero, face of the franchise, to go out as a winner, but go out not on top.
Crosby should demand top dollar if his supporting cast is sub-par players trying to become the next Jan Hrdina.
Man, I really wished Lemieux / Burkle still owned the franchise.

Keep seeing Friedman linking Anthony Beauvillier and the Penguins. He did a quick column this AM and projected AB to sign here. Also, a sizable change at the top of the Penguins ownership group...

Thanks for sharing. I mean I guess I'm fine with Beauvillier if it's $1mill or under and it's for the bottom 6.DeHaven162 wrote: Mon Jul 01, 2024 9:27 amKeep seeing Friedman linking Anthony Beauvillier and the Penguins. DOC-Hayes-Beauvillier isn't the worst 3rd line in the world, but it's far from great.
We need a 1LW.

I'm in the same boat. Don't hate AB, numbers won't wow you, his analytics (not that I know much about the charts) are not great. But he just turned 27, and what I remember when he was on those Islanders teams that were beating us constantly, is I hated him. Wouldn't hate it on the cheap.KG wrote: Mon Jul 01, 2024 9:35 amThanks for sharing. Re: Random Penguins Fodder
Reported signings that will become official today:
--Reinhart, 8x8.625M AAV with Florida
--Guentzel, 7x9M AAV with Tampa
--Bertuzzi, 5x5.5M AAV with Chicago
--Domi, 4x3.75M AAV with Toronto
--Sam Carrick, 3x1M AAV with Rangers
--Sam Steel, 1x1.2M AAV with Dallas
Interesting that Reinhart ended up costing less than Guentzel, which is the way I thought it should have been. Reinhart had a phenomenal season and has been on an upswing ever since coming to Florida. But last year was one year. I think he would have broke the bank if he had 40-50 for 2-3 seasons. On the flip side, Reinhart is night and day better defensively than Guentzel.
With the direction Dubas appears to be taking....I really have ZERO guesses on who he may be targeting. With not going past 2 years, I don't think there's going to be a lot of "exciting" signings, even on the low end.

AB would be a good upgrade for the the 3rd line and skilled enough to play up the line up. Seems like a buy low younger legs fit that could work. 3 years 1M annual my guess.

He's coming off a cap hit of $3.6mill...He was scratched in the playoffs this season. Better be one of those prove it deals KD was talking about...

Foegle had a good playoffs. Something tells me he's not going to have to settle for a low offer or only a 2 year offer.
Kylington was also a decent defender. I'd be happy to have him, but I doubt it.
This is Filiponi sending these out....

Re: Random Penguins Fodder
If we are scrapping the bottom of the barrel of the free agent market...my question is, what is the rush?? let teams spend their money and lets see what comes our way.
There's no reason to sign Beauvillier and Grzelyck at 12:01 today...aim higher. SIgn one of the younger RFA's that didn't get qualified etc.

The only plausible reason for looking at Beauvillier and Grzelcyk is if KD is hoping to accelerate the team into the draft lottery.

Seems like the plan is to sign veterans who had a down year. Hope they bounce back and we trade them for picks at the deadline...FLPensFan wrote: Mon Jul 01, 2024 10:33 amThe only plausible reason for looking at Beauvillier and Grzelcyk is if KD is hoping to accelerate the team into the draft lottery.
I guess that is a "plan."...
