BTW, with the acquisition of Kevin Hayes, we increased our team NTC/NMC to 13 players. More than 50% of the team has some form of trade protection.

NJ reportedly signing both Pesce and Dillon.
LeBrun reports talks with Shane Pinto have stalled, and OTT may trade him.

Re: Random Penguins Fodder
TB signed Guentzel
7x9M, first four years NMC, last three years 10 team NTC.
Good on you Jake, though I had preferred he'd gone out west, for obvious reasons.
And we couldn't offer anything like that anyway.

Obviously, there's still time for things to change, but so far, the big adds are Hayes and Grzelcyk, and Joseph is apparently gone. That actually makes the Pens older and doesn't add a ton of skill. I can get taking Hayes, since he came with a 2nd-rounder, but why not just play the young guys in the system, even if they're mediocre, instead of stocking up with more mediocre 30+ guys?

Otherwise known as tanking. See Pirates, Pittsburgh.KG wrote: Mon Jul 01, 2024 10:37 amSeems like the plan is to sign veterans who had a down year. Hope they bounce back and we trade them for picks at the deadline...FLPensFan wrote: Mon Jul 01, 2024 10:33 amThe only plausible reason for looking at Beauvillier and Grzelcyk is if KD is hoping to accelerate the team into the draft lottery.
I guess that is a "plan."...

Re: Random Penguins Fodder
This is what I don't understand. GMKD says they want to get younger and faster. Grizzly or whatever his name is for Joseph makes them older and slower. Same with Hayes replacing whoever he would be. They are in full tank mode if you ask me. It started with losing Guentzel. You do have to at least wonder is Sid will change his mind on not playing anywhere else when he sees these types of moves.largegarlic wrote: Mon Jul 01, 2024 11:03 amObviously, there's still time for things to change, but so far, the big adds are Hayes and Grzelcyk, and Joseph is apparently gone. LeBrun says Montour to Seattle for 7 years, around 50M total is very likely.
I think Yakov Trenin is going to Minnesota for 3.5M AAV, not sure on term.
Saw some reports that Pinto has now asked for a trade.

Unless we trade Eller and move Hayes to the fourth line, there is no reason to go after Pinto. I don’t understand the rush for the trades KD is making.FLPensFan wrote: Mon Jul 01, 2024 11:14 amLeBrun says Montour to Seattle for 7 years, around 50M total is very likely.

I'd love to add Pinto. He's the type of player this team should be looking for. He's only 23. But, I see no way Dubas gives up the necessary assets to get him. Gonna cost a likely 1st and high end prospect.Ohio_Pens_fan wrote: Mon Jul 01, 2024 11:21 amUnless we trade Eller, move Hayes to the fourth line, there is no reason to go after Pinto. Re: Random Penguins Fodder
That would at least instill some hope in me for the upcoming season. I get enough disappointment during the regular season so I don’t need more in the off-season. Sorry, having a bad day.FLPensFan wrote: Mon Jul 01, 2024 11:22 amI'd love to add Pinto. He's the type of player this team should be looking for. He's only 23. Did you see the numbers? He's basically getting paid $1 mil per season! All the rest is in huge bonuses each year.Puck-Lurker wrote: Mon Jul 01, 2024 11:01 amTB signed Guentzel

Is Grzelcyk a done deal to Pittsburgh? I haven't seen it confirmed.
I also see that we're in on Arvidsson.

I don't think any of the Penguins rumors are done deals.dark_forces wrote: Mon Jul 01, 2024 11:35 amIs Grzelcyk a done deal to Pittsburgh? I haven't seen it confirmed.

Stamkos to Nashville 4x8M appears done.
Tiffoli to SJ appears done.
Sounds like Marchessault is also going to Nashville, LeBrun saying not done but 5 years, 5.5M seems to be the number that will get it done.
Hearing Nashville may be in on Brady Skjei, too.

Re: Random Penguins Fodder
Add another name to the Pittsburgh rumor mill:
Kase was a good 3rd liner with 20 goal ability, but his career was derailed by concussions. Dubas signed him in Toronto in 21-22. He put up 14 goals, 27 points in 50 games, but from February 2022 to October 2022, he may have had 4 concussions. The one in October was game 1 of the 22-23 season with Carolina.

The Penguins did not give their non-tender list publicly yesterday. Today's NHL list shows that Andonovski is the only player that got a QO. POJ, Bemstrom, Cajkovic, and Hamaliuk did not get offers and are UFAs today.

Not sure about the PLD deal, but overall, yes, I agree. Not looking good for the Pens...again.
