Lomberg going to Calgary, deal not finalized.
EDIT: 2 years, 2M AAV. Woof. Pass on that. Duhaime at 1.8M is a better play. Good job Caps.

Re: Random Penguins Fodder
I thought it was a good move at first given his youth and I thought he would be a new interesting voice and being freed from the Toronto atmosphere would allow him to make some bold, smart moves to take the franchise where it needed to change. I'm increasingly thinking that was wrong and he is seeming more and more a terrible choice because the bulk of the moves he's made have been below average to terrible for me and with each new move or lack of, I'm only feeling more and more like this.Crash66 wrote: Mon Jul 01, 2024 1:20 pmNever understood the fascination with him. Guess I slept through some Cup parades through downtown Toronto.DelPen wrote: Mon Jul 01, 2024 1:17 pmI’m really starting to move into the Dubas Sucks camp. My concerns about his time at Toronto aren’t looking unfounded.

Acciari was probably a good comp. Maybe whoever missed out on Lomberg will want Acciari ?FLPensFan wrote: Mon Jul 01, 2024 1:34 pmLomberg going to Calgary, deal not finalized.

Guess I'm in the minority, but I don't mind the Grzelcyk signing. Guy has been a top pairing guy with good Boston teams in the past. Had a dud of a year last year. But its a one year deal at a low cap hit. If we end up stinking this year, its a very moveable deal at the deadline for future assets.

Duclair, Roslovic, Skinner still out there...better than what we are signing right now.

Maybe Tarasenko too...
Reilly Smith is still a Penguin for some reason...

The problem is Dubas missed with Graves, Smith, and Acciari so we don't have any cap space at the momentPruezy11881 wrote: Mon Jul 01, 2024 1:43 pmDuclair, Roslovic, Skinner still out there...better than what we are signing right now.

Islanders. I'm probably in the minority but I'm hoping they hang onto Smith until the deadline....He's a good candidate for a bounce back sophomore season and could net something nice at the deadline. I also don't want to see them with too much cap space to overpay someone due to someone's cup pipe dream this season.

Re: Random Penguins Fodder
If Smith is dealt to the Rangers, the return may make or break my thoughts on Dubas as GM.
The good:
--Kakko
--a 2nd round pick
The bad:
--Trouba
--Trouba plus 50% retained on Smith
-- a 3rd or 4th round pick.

Vegas have lost a few forwards today. Maybe that puts Smith on their radar.

If we get Kaako for Smith I would be shocked. I'm expecting a 3rd round pick but surprise me Dubas!FLPensFan wrote: Mon Jul 01, 2024 1:52 pmIf Smith is dealt to the Rangers, the return may make or break my thoughts on Dubas as GM.

Re: Random Penguins Fodder
MF-ing Erik Gustafsson signed for 2 years, 2M AAV in DET. I'd much rather have Gustafsson than Grzelcyk. This is more of what we needed to see. Good offense, good defense, trending up and to the right, not down and to the right.Mad City Mike wrote: Mon Jul 01, 2024 1:53 pmStill think that?DeHaven162 wrote: Mon Jul 01, 2024 1:41 pmGuess I'm in the minority, but I don't mind the Grzelcyk signing.
