If true, does that mean we sign P.O.?

Re: Random Penguins Fodder
I would hope the $5 mil in savings would be turned around on a decent FA still available.

Re: Random Penguins Fodder
So the Sabres essentially traded Skinner for Zucker and Lafferty.

We now need someone to replace Smith. With Dubas's track record, it will probably be 35 year old JVR.

Yeah, it'll be a third round pick, but at least frees up some cap space.KG wrote: Mon Jul 01, 2024 1:57 pmIf we get Kaako for Smith I would be shocked. I'm expecting a 3rd round pick but surprise me Dubas!FLPensFan wrote: Mon Jul 01, 2024 1:52 pmIf Smith is dealt to the Rangers, the return may make or break my thoughts on Dubas as GM.
The good:
--Kakko
--a 2nd round pick
The bad:
--Trouba
--Trouba plus 50% retained on Smith
-- a 3rd or 4th round pick.

Take that...assuming we aren't retaining salary.

Re: Random Penguins Fodder
If traded for a 2nd and 5th, I'm ok with that.
He's 33 so we get younger by subtraction and clear out $5.3 mil in cap space.
Should be able to pick up a few more 5-9 guys with that money.

Just checked, the Rangers don't have a 2nd round pick until 27. Guessing that's the pick we are getting. Rebuild!

Any idea on our new cap number, assuming Nieto on LTIR?

Re: Random Penguins Fodder
Is Pittsburgh in on any top six winger? We need to find someone to put up with Rust and Crosby.
Taresenko is out there. Could trade for Laine (I guess).

Skinner is still out there...although if I'm him, I'm signing with a contender. Dude has made a ton of money, never made the playoffs yet. Don't sign here for that. Unless we sign him and trade him at the deadlinePensfan4life8771 wrote: Mon Jul 01, 2024 2:14 pmIs Pittsburgh in on any top six winger? We need to find someone to put up with Rust and Crosby.
