Ok, so my .850 wasn't too far off in the end.

Interesting listening to the NHL network guys after the game, talking about how bad the Penguins are. They were talking about trading players, and while I don't think they said fire the coach, they said they need a major change in philosophy.
That sure sounds like fire the coach.

No, clearly it is the bad influence of Puljujarvi that needs to be scratched again.FLPensFan wrote: Fri Nov 15, 2024 9:42 pmInteresting listening to the NHL network guys after the game, talking about how bad the Penguins are. Another reason for Sully to be gone. This team is too soft. It was fine for the team to "just play" and turn the other cheek when they were skating circles around their opponents at times, and their PP was deadly. They could suck it up, take a bit of a beating, and use it to their advantage.
Nowadays, they're just taking a beating on the ice and on the scoreboard. They don't have the talent to "just play" through it anymore.
It is obvious that Sully doesn't care for players that "stir the pot" or get involved in the dirty part of the game. How many of them have come and gone over the years. Horny was one of the few that stuck around for a while.
If you can't out-talent other teams, at least make it miserable for them to play against you. This team is so soft, other teams, especially fast/physical teams, have to be licking their chops when line up against the Pens.
Granted, the team shows signs of grit and battles hard at times, but not often enough for my liking. Maybe it's just the sore loser in me hating to watch this team get embarrassed at times.

Regardless of his future with the Pens, I wish the best for him. He's been one of the brighter spots on this team since the start of training camp. Why he's been in and out and moved around is beyond me. IMO, that is the exact type of player you give every chance to exceed to. Not that I expect him to live up to his draft position, but he could get into a groove and be an effective middle 6 forward (assuming he continues to stay healthy).DelPen wrote: Fri Nov 15, 2024 9:45 pmNo, clearly it is the bad influence of Puljujarvi that needs to be scratched again.FLPensFan wrote: Fri Nov 15, 2024 9:42 pmInteresting listening to the NHL network guys after the game, talking about how bad the Penguins are. He always looks so pumped when he scores, lol, I keep finding myself rooting for him when he's on the ice.

The only true positive I see out of this game (granted, I barely watched with full attention) is Beauvillier now has 6 goals on the season. He's already surpassed his goal total of 5 from last season. At only 1.25M and UFA at the end of the season, hopefully that means some teams will be calling about him as a rental. Keep scoring and upping his value or creating a bidding war.

DVR'd both Penguins and Tyson fight tonight. A buddy has his RV parked in Pomona for the NHRA Championship weekend. Sunday, a champion driver will be named. Sunday, Tyson will be richer than before. Sunday, Sullivan will enjoy his day knowing that no matter he **** the bed, he has a great paycheck ahead of him that he doesn't deserve. Dubas will probably enjoy his weekend knowing that he doesn't deserve his paycheck. FSG could not care less about the storied Penguins Franchise they purchased - the corporate owners have no clue what day it is.
Me? I have tickets all weekend to watch drivers that build a racecar in the garage and 'run what they brung'. F u FSG!

Let's kick the tyres on trading assets for futures, get some other bums that will not make the playoffs either and get good in 5-6 years.

I had the same thought. If Beauvilier has 10-15 goals approaching the trade deadline, I can see playoff teams looking at him as a good depth scoring addition for their bottom 6. I'd still guess a mid-round pick would be the return, but that's better than I would have said a couple weeks ago when he was an empty sweater.FLPensFan wrote: Fri Nov 15, 2024 11:16 pmThe only true positive I see out of this game (granted, I barely watched with full attention) is Beauvillier now has 6 goals on the season. Sad to see the “big 3” become a joke but they have all had a part in this disastrous fiasco so….

Apparently Jarry hasn't changed a bit, and he's a full-time member of the Erik Karlsson Denial Club. When asked about his performance last night, he said "Not bad." according to Dejan.

It's not too late for him to develop a serious allergic reaction to wearing hockey gear.FLPensFan wrote: Sat Nov 16, 2024 1:14 pmApparently Jarry hasn't changed a bit, and he's a full-time member of the Erik Karlsson Denial Club. Sure wish the third line (POP) was rewarded with more ice-time...Maestro wrote: Sat Nov 16, 2024 12:59 pmSad to see the “big 3” become a joke but they have all had a part in this disastrous fiasco so….

3 players had Corsi numbers over 60% for the Penguins last night. It was that line. Besides that line, Shea, and Beauvillier, everyone else was under 50%. POP line on average outchanced CBJ 23 to 13Admin wrote: Sat Nov 16, 2024 1:27 pmSure wish the third line (POP) was rewarded with more ice-time...Maestro wrote: Sat Nov 16, 2024 12:59 pmSad to see the “big 3” become a joke but they have all had a part in this disastrous fiasco so….

FGMJR saw the writing on the wall. Can't blame Fenway back then. Someone didn't want to listen.
