Didn't notice this until reading something today, but Nashville and Montreal made a defenseman swap yesterday. Nashville got Justin Barron and Montreal got Alexander Carrier.
These were two guys the Penguins may have had interest in, with Barron likely being favored.
So the 3 things that happened right when the Pens started their 7-2-1 run was 1) The Tomasino trade. 2) Lizotte was activated from IR and 3) Pickering was recalled from WBS. All minor, but they seemed to change the overall quality of play.

Nah, it was clearly Nieto and Acciari on the fourth line that made the difference. --Sulivan, probably

Those are important. No argument.
Last 10 games Rakell 29.2 shot percentage. All the games before he was at 12.7.

Glass has become Sully's new pet. 1 goal in 21 games and he's playing top 6 minutes on Geno's wing. POJ in for Graves. I thought Graves had a decent game against Nashville. Was physical against McCarron. Shea stays in the lineup. Boston connection for the win.

2nd pairing is flipped, but, one of the issues is only Grzelcyk and Shea play RD as leftys. And to put POJ in, one of the pure leftys had to come out. And the Penguins love Grzelcyk, defensive warts and all.
Certainly weren’t there to see Rempe who was tossed on his first game after getting called back up because he is a piece of ****. NHL needs to go long on his suspension here because the guy not only never learns but he’s also not good at the game in any aspect of it. He’s just bad for everything hockey related.
Are the Caps the best team in Hockey? I tend to focus on them since they are very similar to the Penguins. I just don’t get how they were able to rebuild so fast. I know their GM is top notch but give them credit
Caps have been willing to change coaches, jettison old players without being emotional and making decisions solely based on nostalgia and were willing to largely make bold changes to their make up. This team could easily have been competitive again if they had made different moves over the last 3 years or so.

They also don’t have a top 2-3 coach in nhl history….err today. If the Penguins fired Sullivan, Washington would hire him. Get with the program Antonio.
Well, they would be unstoppable if they were able to hire Sullivan...I mean, they are looking for him I am sure because as we all know, if you don't have Sully you will be looking for Sully.

The league just handed down an 8 game suspension on Rempe.
