Bring back Crusher, or a coach who actually practices them. I know I know, top 2-3 coach in thr NHL.

Pens played harder than I expected so that’s cool. Pretty fun game to watch too.

OT in general is just dumb. Can't really get upset over how anybody plays. Not real hockey.

The Pens effort was strong in this game.Battled and were determined.
PP getting 2 Goals was big. They had so many good chances.Night and Day better than last Season.
Jarry was good in this game.Huge stops in the 3rd and OT.He kept his Team in it.
Sullivan using the 4th Line the way he has continues to have zero positive result.
Crosby was a force again.Geno did very little until the last PP assist.Back to going through the motions for him.
Considering the Opponent and the clutch late tying Goal have to credit the Pens tonight. They definitely earned the One Point.

Agreed. I know it won’t happen but I’d rather go back to tiespenscup wrote: Fri Jan 03, 2025 9:54 pmOT in general is just dumb. Can't really get upset over how anybody plays. Not real hockey.

I was thinking it's kind of dumb to force teams to have the long change during OT. Visiting team should get the option to stay or switch sides after the 3rd period.penscup wrote: Fri Jan 03, 2025 9:54 pmOT in general is just dumb. Can't really get upset over how anybody plays. Not real hockey.
I know Geno gets caught out there too long in OT, but I didn't really think it was his fault. Even when he finally changed, on two occasions, Crosby had to bust his ass off the bench to get into the play.
As mentioned earlier....Florida played most of OT without a d-man. Forsling took 2 shifts, Balinskis took 1. That was it. You want to go for that extra point in OT, that's how you do it. Of course, Florida has more skilled players to rotate through than we do, which makes that easier to do.

3 on 3 is very dumb NHL rule.. maybe 4 on 4,but not 3 on 3!penscup wrote: Fri Jan 03, 2025 9:54 pmOT in general is just dumb. Can't really get upset over how anybody plays. Not real hockey.
Anyway, hard earned point.. Jarry actually played good game, except those puck bounces around the goal and from the boards, had issues all night, maybe ice sucked as well. That moment when he was spinning around in 2nd period ,lost his puck, he was lucky..
Malkin's line was pretty bad whole night, invisible.. Bunting maybe the best out of three.. Geno cant miss that (hit the post) late in the game. Nice setup for PP goal tho..
Pickering had some rookie issues in defensive zone, puck handling let him down.. Graves playing again like he is 5'7 on many occasions.
Tomasino injury looked bad, I hope he didnt broke bone or any ACL injury.. now I guess Beau back in! Jesse frozen on bench.
I think Hayes had solid game, he was noticable offensively

Malkin on pace for his worst year as a professional. He is still a good hockey player and not grossly overpaid, but he is not 2011 or 2017 Malkin. You watch him and expect him to do things he did 10 years ago, but it just isn’t there. Fortunately, he has his moments, but doesn’t seem to be as many.

The coach isn’t helping Geno out at all either. Playing an older Malkin with 1 goal Cody Glass as his line mate and playing 2nd PP minutes. I’m surprised Geno has as many points as he does. He’s had the pleasure of having Glass, DOC, Beauvillier as his line mates this season. Bunting has clicked into gear but most of his goals are on the PP.Southern Fan wrote: Sat Jan 04, 2025 7:00 amMalkin on pace for his worst year as a professional. The team has badly needed a top line winger since the Jake trade. To play a 38 year old Malkin with borderline plugs isn’t right. They should break up the top line and spread the wealth around or make a trade and bring in a top 6 winger.
