Speaking of WBS, whenever I see the lineups, Pickering is on the third D pairing. If he’s our best prospect why this pairing?
hm,that is odd - are Kral and Aho on first 2 LD spots?
Yeah Kral was first and Aho was second pairing last night.

:thumb: I would prefer Pickering on 1st pairing as well, it seems MacDonald leans on more experianced D atm.

Florida has signed Puljujarvi to a two-way deal, league minimum contract for the rest of the season. He's on waivers today, a requirement for players signing a deal mid-season.

In 11 games with Charlotte, he had 1 goal, 5 assists, and averaged 3 shots per game.

Not done yet, but looks like Tampa and Seattle are working on a trade per Friedman:

--Tampa is going to get Yanni Gourde and Oliver Bjorkstrand
--Seattle is going to get 2 1st round picks from Tampa
--May be more involved than this.

If that is true that definitely reinforces the notion it is a sellers market.

The Tampa Bay Lightning are acquiring forwards Oliver Bjorkstrand and Yanni Gourde from the Seattle Kraken.
Seattle gets a first-round picks in both 2026 and 2027, 2025 second-round pick that was previously belonging to the Toronto Maple Leafs and Michael Eyssimont back in the deal.

Gourde is a pending UFA, Bjorkstrand is signed for one more season. Helps set the bar if Rakell is dealt.

That's a very hefty price

That certainly doesn't hurt the Penguins cause. We need to strike!

Desharnais to SJ for a 5th is certainly a trade.

Kyle, you sly dog you. Who had Bunting heading to Nashville on their bingo card? Tommy Novak about to dish dimes and now we know why they gave Desharnais away.

Sounds like Rantanen will be available. Carolina has received multiple “compelling offers” for him so far.

Have to think waiting for the Rantanen situation to unfold will impact any potential Rakell trade.

Probably just Rantanen is either dealt or signed (or dealt and signed... who knows), the floodgates will open for trades.

While offers may be "compelling," Tulsky is no dummy, and I find it hard to believe Carolina gets an offer that is equal or greater to what they gave up to get Rantanen. Rantanen hasn't said he won't resign, just that there's no way he's going to have a decision by Friday.

EDIT: And after I write this, I now see there are rumors of potential sign and trade, and that Rantanen will sign "with the right team." Doesn't sound like that is Carolina.

I agree they probably won't even get the same value in a new Rantanen trade. Others teams will know they are trading for a rental.

But it is said Carolina will avoid a similar situation to Guentzel's last yeat and won't risk losing Rantanen for nothing. Reportedly they offered him a deal identical to MacKinnon's and he's still yet to give them an answer.

Edit: he won't stay in Carolina

Sellers market indeed.
Dumo was traded from Seattle to Anaheim for a 4th 2026 last July. Now he was traded with 50% retention for a 2nd 2025 and a prospect (former 3rd rounder in 2024). Retention ups his value, but definitely a seller's market.

Florida picks up Nico Sturm and a 7th for a 4th round pick. I would think this takes them out as a potential Acciari suitor.

Also, TIOPS saying Devils may have interest in Kevin Hayes for bottom 6 depth.
