Not moving Rakell is beyond insane with the prices being paid. No justification for keeping him and no justification for not being able to find an appropriate price. Hopefully it is a last minute thing.
Honestly I think if they don't trade him it's because they don't want to. I find it hard to believe they can't find a taker with all the forwards being traded.

Other teams have to want our guys. Can't just move them cause prices are good.

Where do Gryz and Rakell fit at this point?

Maybe what Rakell brings is more valuable than draft picks at this point. Having good players is always a positive.

Yeah, I ultimately agree with your opinion on this. As much as I love Sid and everything he's done for the Pens, Dubas really should not be thinking him (or anyone else currently on the team) at this time. Right now, the focus should 100% be on the long term future of the franchise, IMO.

There’s still hope for a trade…a press conference has not yet been announced.

10000% Rakell gets traded today. The reason for the holdup is that there a teams competing for him and Dubas needs to figure out the best offer to accept. That is what I believe anyways.

Carolina makes the most sense. They will not have to deal with the drama of re-signing a guy. And it will still leave them a little something from the Rantenen deal.

Yeah, with the deals that are getting done, you would think that we have at least one offer of a 1st + for Rakell.

It will be very disappointing, simply because of the value that other teams are capitalizing on.

I hope so too.

My vote is now Rakell to NJ for Nemec +.

Read somewhere there is a decent chance he gets moved.

If Gryz is going to be a depth guy, he's not bringing in a 1st or 2nd. And a lot of depth D have already been acquired.

Carolina has a hole, but not everyone wants a 32 year old forward with two years left coming off an awful year, even if this year is great.

At this point in the year, the Penguins are playing for a better draft position and next year likely won't be much different. Rakell is a good player and could help them get more points then they would get without him.

Gryz is overated in Pittsburgh...i'll be happy with a 3rd or a 4th. But with this year market prices, never know

Gryz won't bring much but a 3rd would be fine.

Maybe Carolina will fill the hole another way or choose not to. We'll see in the next hour or so.

Just hoping that KD will trade several picks for real players before Sid retirement.

If they can get 6-8 players under 25 and a new coach, that might give them one more chance of a cup win.

I'm curious if Rakell now goes to Carolina. It's still a downgrade, but subtracting Necas and getting Stankoven, Rakell, and a 1st (assuming at least a 1st is traded away for Rakell) is about as close to a win as Carolina could get out of this mess.

I've been out, but listening to NHL Network Sirius XM in the car. A lot of speculation that owner Tom Dundon was behind Rantanen being flipped. Nobody went further than that, but, Dundon's been known to be cheap. Maybe he heard 12M and said no f&*%ing way, dump him. Guys on Sirius were saying Tulsky is way too smart to put himself in this situation.

Give me a 1st and Jackson Blake, or Scott Morrow or....Alex Nikishin for Rakell.

Would it be possible Dubas is loading up on picks to make a bigger trade at the draft?

I have the exact same feeling.
Plus, no drama of re-signing.

100%. There's no way we make all 17 picks out of the picks we have in the next three drafts. He's going to start using them as trade currency at some point.
