That would be really unfortunate. After years of overpaying while in cup contention, passing on an opportunity to sell high and speed up the inevitable rebuild is a huge mistake…

Maybe Marchand will start licking faces again. What a creepy dude.

How is Florida fitting all this in??
Probably Florida moving cap out and a 3rd team retaining.

Not trading him in this market was a mistake. But they did extract good value in the other moves.

Obviously the Canes are too cheap to pay up. If that is the case then good on KD. Of course we will never know what was offered.

And KD wanted a price and nobody stepped up.

If true that "despite heavy interest etc" then this organization is dumber than one can believe.
Does heavy interest equal quality return? You have know way of knowing that.

That's a big whiff
Wow, huge miss by Dubas.

It sucks because we'll probably never know exactly what the "heavy interest" was, but I am totally shocked that none of that interest resulted in an acceptable offer. Maybe he is holding out for the 3 firsts that were rumored.

If that's it for the deadline, we got decent returns, but that's not enough to move the needle for this organization. It's sets the stage for a much longer rebuild than most of us are hoping for.

Not thrilled with keeping Rakell and Grzelcyk, assuming there was any interest in the latter. I don't see the point in keeping anyone not named Crosby.

Vegas tweeted out a "hi" a few minutes before the deadline. Wonder what they're up to.

The only thing I've seen about them today had them in on Rantanen (gone) and/or Erik Karlsson. Can we keep the hope alive?

Don't look too surprised if Pens resign him with a raise.

We don't know what was offered. We'll never know if he overplayed his hand or not. But again, Keeping Rakell doesn't help anyone.

Find it impossible to believe that no one made a good offer on Rakell so I am going to say that is just not a realistic defense. Given all the other moves and the standard prices being paid by MULTIPLE teams, there is no way there was "heavy interest" and no good offer. Huge miss. Yeah, sure, you made some good moves on minor unimportant crap...you got multiple 2 3 4 picks in the 2037 draft and unloaded some trash...great...but where you needed to make an IMPACT move with real assets when people were paying insane prices, you totally missed? None of those other trades today, even though they were good in objective terms for what you moved and what you got back, are making ANY difference in the future of this team. None, barring a miracle late round find. Just when I thought maybe I had been a tad harsh on KD....he swoops in to make me realize I was right all along.
