He's earned it. Hayes has had a strong season. Good for him.
He's been earning it since preseason. Happy for the guy.

Ouf, this one really hurts to read:

Bryan Rust Makes Strong Statement on Pittsburgh Penguins Coach Mike Sullivan
https://www.hockeyunplugged.com/nhl-tea ... e-sullivan

In his time as Penguins Head Coach, Sullivan has led the team to two Stanley Cups, and while they're in a retool phase right now, it's still clear that he's one of, if not the best Head Coach in the entire league right now.

Spezza was on the broadcast last night talking a bit about how the next wave of WBS talent will likely come up as a unit. How Sullivan handles the development of that group for me will tell how good of a coach he really is. Winning 2 cups with multiple generational talents IMO doesn't make you a great coach. Great coaches are made by elevating the talent on your roster and getting them to over perform. Over the past 5 or so seasons all I've seen is underperformance relative to the talent assembled.

Sully is the Matt Murray of coaches. I think he’s a decent coach, far past his leash here and way overrated. Everytime I hear him say swagger I wanna barf

I hope the 2025-2026 will be the official Eddie Johnston-Lou Angotti season. There's not much that can be done to salvage next season so we should just keep getting to our game all season and then finish last. The following season won't be much better, but there's a decent chance the summer of 2027 has a nice UFA class and by then we might have scooped some nice prospects to play this out. We need two bad seasons and I truly hope it is the next two after this. That's like the only way to do a rapid rebuild the KD favors.

To say Mike Sullivan is just a decent coach is kind of ridiculous. He's a very good coach. He's just not the right fit for this team now. It's not a bad reflection on him. It's the natural course of events of any franchise, team, and coach relationship.

And even the best coach with a lineup set for a cup run (not implying Sullivan is or has either), will fail and fall flat after theyve been on a team for too long.

He's a horrible fit for this team right here and now. Probably a bad for for a team trying to bring up the young guns, too.

Add in some accountability for consistently poor playoff results when he HAD a star studded lineup coming off a 2nd cup. Yes those two cups buy him a lot of credit and rightly so. But that's so far gone, can't see it in the rear view mirror anymore.

Rust may have a point if it's best coach to lead a contender team to the SCF. That's not the kind of coach we need.

But Dubas thinks contention is around the corner somehow. So he will cling onto Sully.

Glass came to Pittsburgh this year, scored four goals in 51 games while here.
- 10 December (COL, 6-2 L)
- 17 January (BUF, 5-2 W)
- 20 January (LAK, 5-1 W)
- 2 March (TOR, 5-6 OTL)
Then he goes to New Jersey and scores in his first game there, to the chagrin of posters.

Imagine how Leafs feel. Dewar scores in his third game, hadn't scored since 28 March 2024.. late last season against Washington. Let's hope he is more productive here.

Just throwing out a thought (spitballing?), the demotion of Jarry allowed him to shake some personal / physical /ego demons to allow him to just play hockey for fun and pleasure?

Trade him for not playing level A when the early season and end of season last year mattered. Not worth the money.

Go away.

Murashov with another win today. He’s now 9-0. Ties Matt Murray’s WBS for longest winning streak.

Hoping this kid is the real deal. We are overdue for some elite goaltending.

Yohe interviewed Sully. Asked him about the perception that he favors vets over younger players. Sully responds by talking about Conor Sheary in 2016 :)

Never too late to get tickets for the game. What a treat it would be to travel for a game on your birthday...

Maybe the Pens should bring over his goalie coach. Seems like these guys have the correct form and style coming over here and then fall into bad habits or coaching over here and it all goes downhill.

I'd like to see how well he does next year as teams adapt. Especially since RH goalies aren't that common so a little harder to adjust. Blomqvist was incredible last year and hasn't had the greatest of seasons this year.

Yeah 9 years ago he gave a shot to him on Sid’s wing and we have yet to see it again. And that was when we lacked any depth and forced his hand.

Why not see Blake Lizotte up there - better overall player than Sheary. Give Rust to Malkin to boost that line.

He had Cody No Goals Glass on that line for months

Kinda ancient history for the Penguins now, but Mark Jankowski has 4 goals in 4 shots in his 4 games for Carolina.
