Draisaitl already renewed his contract last September. 8 years, 14M AAV. It kicks in next season.

Yes. I misspoke, I doubt this summer will yield largest contract in NHL history.Victor wrote: Tue Mar 25, 2025 12:37 pmIt will also be a few years until the next largest contract in NHL history is signed. Ovechkin signed a 124M back in 2008. It was a 13-year contract though. For a 7-year contract to top that, which is the max length an UFA can get, AAV would have to be 17.71M or more, which I don't think we will see this summer.

I'm really curious to see what contract McDavid signs. If he signs at the same cap % of 15.7, and as the cap is projected to rise to 104M in 26-27, his cap hit will be around 16.3M. He will be eligible to sign a 20M contract though.100565 wrote: Tue Mar 25, 2025 10:52 pmYes. WBS beats Hartford in OT. Murashov gets another win and goes to 11-0 at the AHL level.
Avery Hayes had 2 goals, including the "Kucherov" move on the game winner on an OT breakaway. Hayes is someone to keep an eye on. Earned an AHL contract, signed to NHL deal a few weeks ago, Hayes, Koivunen, Bemstrom, and Katchouk are all tied for team lead in goals with 21.

Torts out in Philly. Guess his post game comments didn’t go over so well with the higher ups.

I think it’s the other way around. Post game comments were a result of knowing he was being fired. Either way, he led a failed regime for three straight seasons of missing the playoffs. Meanwhile, our coach with the same awful resume is probably working on another three-year extension with our terrible front office that refuses to fire himKG wrote: Thu Mar 27, 2025 9:08 amTorts out in Philly. If this is his last job in the NHL, this is the most Tortorella way of doing it that he could find.

Interesting. Was kind of hoping we would keep them away from this dumpster fire team and coach and start fresh next season. But they will be able to go back down for the playoffs.
Get ready to play with Acciari and Imama, rookies.

Also....
Kamloops didn't make the playoffs, which is why Brunicke is playing in WBS. Big add for them heading into the playoffs.

Also, pure class by Ovechkin last night in Minnesota. Caps lose 4-2 to the Wild, with Gustavsson in net for MIN. Game ends, Caps start to leave the ice to the locker room...Ovechkin goes to the bench and tells the guys to get back out here, Ovi lines up at center, and al the Caps players and coaches line up to shake hands with Marc-Andre Fleury, as it was his last game against the Caps (and he didn't even play).

My admiration and respect for Ovechkin has grown over the past couple years. As I watch him and Sid break longstanding records and move up the history books, I am simply enjoying both of them at this point.FLPensFan wrote: Fri Mar 28, 2025 12:10 pmAlso, pure class by Ovechkin last night in Minnesota. Nah, this is good. Get them all a cup of tea in the Bigs this year as a reward for how they've grown this season. They all deserve it. 8 games left, just go out and play.KG wrote: Fri Mar 28, 2025 10:33 am

I wonder if those two will play together up here? They seem to come as a pair the past few months.
And, I thought that Brunicke news was announce last week or so?

Callin them up is stupid! This could louse up the draft! They looked down and defeated why screw with that? To win meaningless games now???? WTF!
Whether they play well and they win games hurting our draft position, or they play poorly and damage their confidence. This is just mind-numbingly stupid!

This is an unforced error by Dubas! Nothing good can come from this! If they win it keeps us from getting a key piece for the future. If they lose it could damage their confidence going into next year. Everything was goin ok the last week here and down on the farm, leave it be! Damn!KG wrote: Fri Mar 28, 2025 10:33 am

These guys aren't going to miraculously come up here, put the whole team on their shoulders, and suddenly start making the team crank out wins. I fully support this decision. RMG started the year here. He has grown A TON since his 3 game stint in the NHL. This is a great chance for him to get re-acclimated to the pace of the game, and to see how he stacks up against NHL players now that he's not drinking from a firehose trying to learn systems and positioning.Michael74 wrote: Fri Mar 28, 2025 1:02 pmThis is an unforced error by Dubas! For Koivunen, he's been hot and consistent all year, and hadn't yet been recalled. Again, going into next season, this gives Koivunen a good opportunity to see what he may need to work on over the summer and heading in to next year's camp, after facing NHL level competition and realizing the pace is much different than in the AHL.
This is an excellent move for both of them...reward them for their good play....let them see how the pace is different at this level, and better prepare them for next year.

Good for them to get a call up and be around the big leaguers. Just sucks that they are going to see <9 minutes of ice time.

This could have waited until next year! Nothing and I repeat nothing good can come from this. Either they help us win meaningless games, or they look overwhelmed damaging their confidence.FLPensFan wrote: Fri Mar 28, 2025 1:17 pmThese guys aren't going to miraculously come up here, put the whole team on their shoulders, and suddenly start making the team crank out wins. This is not in any way a good move! What is our objective here exactly? To win games that only hurt us for the future? I'm sorry, you can spin this any way you want, but this has been a miserable year, at least get a great prospect (if possible) for suffering through it!
They were doing well in WB, they shoulda left it alone! An extra win this season could put us two or three spots lower in the draft.

Why is this team actively trying to damage their draft positioning? I just don't see a coherent plan anymore! Keeping Rakell was beyond absurd! Now calling up kids to try and spark a winning streak when the draft could afford us a staple piece in the top six for 10-15 years possibly? What is the point of this? What is the overarching objective? To sabotage any chance for upward mobility?

If Koivunen and McGroarty wont play at least 2nd or 3rd line and play 13-14min it will be kinda waste of their time here.
Rakell - Crosby - Rust
McGroarty - Malkin - Koivunen
Dewar - Hayes - Tomasino
Heinen - Lizotte - Acciari
Maybe?!

100% This is how you reward your hardest working prospects. They will go back down in time to make a playoff run in the AHL.FLPensFan wrote: Fri Mar 28, 2025 1:17 pmThese guys aren't going to miraculously come up here, put the whole team on their shoulders, and suddenly start making the team crank out wins. Yes, we all want a better draft position this year, but, there is not a team in this league that thinks like you do. Look what Buffalo did last night. Why did they score so much? Because teams and players want to win. I guarantee you, there is not one GM in this league trying to sabotage his team for a better draft position.

You think these guys are going to improve the lineup in a meaningful way? Have you seen our defense? RMG was a non-factor in the 3 games he played earlier this year. These guys have earned an NHL opportunity. Doubt very much it hurts our draft position.Michael74 wrote: Fri Mar 28, 2025 1:51 pmWhy is this team actively trying to damage their draft positioning? And regarding that, who's to say the 7th overall pick doesn't end up being better than the 5th overall pick?? I had a long talk with GMJR right after he traded a first rounder for Jason Zucker. His thoughts on the draft - do you really know how an 18 year old kid will turn out? Alot of it is a crap shoot. His stance was, I know what I'm getting with Zucker, who knows what I'll get in the draft. I realize this is an entirely different situation, but the premise of not knowing remains the same. See Nolan Patrick for reference.
