While I understand why he went to Vegas, it would have been nice if he played his entire career with the Penguins. I think he still has about the same amount of wins when it's all said and done.
Thoughts on him signing a 1 day contract?
Does Fleury sign a 1 day contract to retire as a Penguin?

Probably the best way to start next season, would be to sign him for the day of the first home game. His infectious smile and attitude would bring the house down and officially close the storyline of his time as a Penguins player, and fan favorite, in style.
After the Jagr ceremony, Flower should also have a day in the spotlight to enjoy a day to feel the love.
Besides, he would have access to the locker room to create some shenanigans...

How about Fleury moves to Pittsburgh next season, and secretly becomes the Penguins home game EBUG...then their goalies go down with a mysterious illness on the night of the home opener.

He could prank Letang, Sid and Geno one last time.BigMcK wrote: Mon Apr 21, 2025 1:26 pmProbably the best way to start next season, would be to sign him for the day of the first home game. He could also fill the opposing teams bus with styrofoam peanuts so they're late or can't warm up as long.FLPensFan wrote: Mon Apr 21, 2025 1:31 pmHow about Fleury moves to Pittsburgh next season, and secretly becomes the Penguins home game EBUG...then their goalies go down with a mysterious illness on the night of the home opener.![]()

Could we see a trade right before the end of June for essentially nothing but Fleury would officially retire as a Penguin?

How about a 1 year contract given our goaltending situation?
I could see either scenario, yes he had a long and successful career here. He also spent 40% of his seasons playing for other teams.

I can also see either scenario, just because it doesn't happen that often. He did spend 40% on other teams, but he's known as a Penguins and played 3x longer than any other specific team and won 3 cups with the Penguins.pfim wrote: Tue Apr 22, 2025 9:05 amHow about a 1 year contract given our goaltending situation?

BTW, I read yesterday that in the last regular season game for the Wild, where Gustavsson came out and Fleury came in for OT...I read that it was not John Hynes decision. Gustavsson came up with the idea and insisted Fleury got to play in OT. Classy move by him.

How good would Gustavsson look in a Penguins uniform right about now?FLPensFan wrote: Wed Apr 23, 2025 2:37 pmBTW, I read yesterday that in the last regular season game for the Wild, where Gustavsson came out and Fleury came in for OT...I read that it was not John Hynes decision. Behind our defense? Not as good as he looks now. But yes, better than what we have.Daniel wrote: Wed Apr 23, 2025 2:53 pmHow good would Gustavsson look in a Penguins uniform right about now?FLPensFan wrote: Wed Apr 23, 2025 2:37 pmBTW, I read yesterday that in the last regular season game for the Wild, where Gustavsson came out and Fleury came in for OT...I read that it was not John Hynes decision.
