Light or dark?
Lots of good Oktoberfest stuff out right now, but tough to get stuck with a case of something you don't like.

Just stay away from that Burning River crap, that's the worst beer I've ever had, ever

Re: GIVE ME YOUR BEER SUGGESTIONS!!
I like the Burning River, actually I haven't had a bad Great Lakes beer yet, so far my faves are Holy Moses White Ale and the Nosferatu. I really want to try the Blackout Stout, but have not had a chance yet...beerman wrote:Their Christmas Ale is pretty good toeddysnake wrote:Great Lakes - Nosferatu (you'll thank me later)

Re: GIVE ME YOUR BEER SUGGESTIONS!!
Just a few suggestions from the top of my head:
Ale: Dogfish Head Raison D'Etre (what I'm drinking right now)
Hoppy: Anchor Liberty
Lager: Penn Oktoberfest
Import Lager: Czechvar
Import Ale: Chimay Red (an all-time favorite)
Stout: Samuel Smith's Oatmeal Stout
Variety: A mix pack from any of Ithaca, Saranac, Troegs, Dogfish Head, Victory, or Great Lakes would not steer you wrong.

Re: GIVE ME YOUR BEER SUGGESTIONS!!
hmm. octoberfest does sound good. i was a huge sam adams fan for a while, but not the last two years. what's the best octoberfest other than sam adams?
heiniken light sounds interesting too. huh, i could go with two cases even. that would be a good mix right there. it's kind of a week long celebration this week. well, more just a drunk week. finally getting a few vacation days and have a concert to go to.

oh yeah, i do love mix packs. maybe i'll try the great lakes mix pack. don't think i've ever had any.
i've been really into dogfish head 60 minute, magic hat 9, and wild blue whatever it's called. i've had problems with victory beer before.

I second this list. Not a huge fan of Raison D'Etre, but Sam Smith's Oatmeal Stout is a top 3 beer in my book.Shyster wrote:Just a few suggestions from the top of my head:

If you can find Otter Creek Octoberfest, that's my favorite. Sam Adams is pretty good. Magic Hat Jinx is also good.

Re: GIVE ME YOUR BEER SUGGESTIONS!!
It definitely is the right (if not the only) time of year to pick up some pumpkin beer. I split a case of the Dogfish Head pumpkin ale with my brother, and it's quite tasty.pfim wrote:If you can get it, Shipyard Pumpkinhead.

It's hilarious that you have to put your birthdate in to enter the site considering some other things you can see on the net without some verification.

Re: GIVE ME YOUR BEER SUGGESTIONS!!
JINX? What is this you speak of, sir? #9 has been my favorite beer for over a year now. I have never had Jinx and I'm hoping they'll get it on tap soon in the 'burgh (haven't seen it anywhere yet but #9 and Circus Boy are all over the place).MWB wrote:If you can find Otter Creek Octoberfest, that's my favorite.
