Welcome to my first WBS Pens’ weekly report. Due to your response to my question about this, I will be posting this every week for the entire WBS Pens’ season based on my observations of their games.
Let’s start with the roster:
Goaltenders: Jeff Deslauriers, Andrew Penner, Dany Sabourin (if he clears waivers).
Defense: Matt Carkner, Micki DuPont, Tom Gilbert, Ryan Lannon, Alain Nasreddine, Wade Skolney, Noah Welch.
Forwards: Dennis Bonvie, Kyle Brodziak, Daniel Carcillo, Erik Christensen, Stephen Dixon, Jonathan Filewich, Jean-Francois Jacque, Connor James, Tyler Kennedy, Jordan Morrison, Libor Pivko, Marc-Antoine Pouliot, Rob Schremp, Tim Sestito, Ryan Stone, Maxime Talbot, Tim Wallace.
Early thoughts:
The goaltending is incredible. Penner played against Wilkes-Barre well last year and is a more than capable backup. Deslauriers is said to be ready to start in the AHL now. Sabourin was the goalie of the year in the AHL last year, so there’s no doubting him. The only question is that Richards has said that he wouldn’t carry 3 goalies, so it will be interesting to see how the playing time plays out.
The defense looks like it could challenge last year’s team record for fewest goals allowed. There is a lot of experience on the blue-line and the Welch-Lannon pairing is magical. Watch Welch now, because he won’t be here long!
There’s a lot of turnover in the forward positions. Returning are Bonvie (enforcer), Carcillo (almost NHL-ready), Christensen (needs to find his touch again), Dixon (hard working forward), Filewich (sniping wing), Stone (always dependable PK-er), Talbot (needs work on his faceoffs and will be back in the NHL). The deal with the Oilers will give us a great boost and we should see 3 legitimate scoring lines. Carcillo looks like he will get more ice time this year to prepare him to move up. His response to this extra work should be a fun thing to watch.
ENJOY THE SEASON!!!
This week’s games:

He has said he is going over if he didn't make the Pitt roster, but has been assigned to WBS by the Pens. I included him because he is on their roster right now.Admin wrote:Keep 'em coming.eastonpensfan wrote:Welcome to my first WBS Pens’ weekly report.

You mean when. If goalies like Brian Boucher, Jason Labarbara don't get claimed, Dany Sabourin shouldn't get claimed. Not that that is a bad thing becuase he did great in WBS last year.eastonpensfan wrote:
