Hershey 7 WBS 4

Post by Ron` »

WBS game was pretty good through 2, then Hershey got guys streaking behind our D three times in the third, result 2 goals. End score 7-4. Don't be holding your hopes for Penner to be a callup in the near future. He's got some work to do in my estimation. Nothing as far as the D that can't be corrected after his game.

The game was pretty much WBS sided in the first two except for the Dennis Bonvie factor. Every time he touched the ice, something bad happened, either major pressure, a goal against or he took a bad penalty. Didn't see him in the third period at all, so it must not have went unnoticed. Denis if your reading, this game even at the AHL level is too fast for you and the refs are looking for you. You can't clutch and grab even at this level anymore.

On the bright side Filewich, Dixon and Carcillo looked pretty good and were working very hard tonight. Stone I really didn't notice anything either way all night. Talbot was a scratch. Christianson was decent. I didn't pay real close attention to the D pairings so I can't comment. Connor James was all over the place and had a goal.

Robbie Schremp from the Oilers was why I was there. He had two assists, drew a penalty and was the fourth man on another goal. One of the goals was with Filewich and Carcillo. He played pretty well except for one poor and one really bad play in the third. The poor one he got stripped behind the net on a power play, no damage other than a zone clear and loss of momentum. On the next shift he got stripped by two guys at the red line and it resulted in one of the behind the D goals.

Robbie knew he messed that up bad from his body language, all he had to do was push the puck forward along the boards when he got squeezed by the two Bear defenders. I suspect he may have been benched after that play to reinforce the point. Didn't see him on the ice again. It was late in the third by then and the Pens were now down two.

2 of the other Oil prospects were in tonight, Tom Gilbert and Poulliet, they seemed ok from what I saw.

Prognosis for this team overall is very good, they just have some work to jell the lines. I'm a little concerned about the goaltending situation though. Penner is not Sabourin for sure at this point.
