I do miss the visible subthreads, but I can certainly get used to this.
Is the profile modifiable? It'd be nice to put back fields like "Favorite Current Penguin" etc, etc.
And, of course, we need all the old emoticons

Another thought: Could rows alternate color? There's a disconnect when viewing a thread title, and then scanning over to see the number of replies it has.

All are doable but probably a bit more long-term than some of the other quick fixes before the move to this software.

The only thing I don't like about this board is that it is hard to tell who is responding to whom.

This whole board looks sterile for me, it lacks the charme of the old one.
If RJ could implement the threaded view, like he tried before it would be nice. It hard to see who replied to whose post.
Just my 2 cents.
P.S. and where are the Moose and MAF Emoticons
?

RJ said (in one of the test threads I think) that avatars are a no go, at least for now.

Not to sound antagonistic or combative, but what was the reason behind the no-go on the avatars?
Would make the whole "new board" experience much more personal.

This is gonna take a lot of getting used to, I just don't see myself posting as much in this format. I'll still come here to lurk and get my Pens news but definitely will post less, which I'm sure will be a bonus for most folks.

Give this board a try.
I don't like change either but something had to be done since the old board's moderation capabilities were severely lacking. That was fine when it was much smaller but now that it's become one tiny step larger than small it was getting out of control.

I think it was just a matter of how many changes he already needed to make on his end, plus server requirements. I'm not really sure...

I understand that change was necessary and most likely beneficial for all. Just finding it hard to navigate and read some of the post due to color contrast. Maybe once I figure it all out I'll be more comfortable.

I despise them. I want this board to be as much text-based as possible. Sorry.

Be sure to try all of the board styles at the bottom of your profile screen. There might be one there that works better for you.

Must say I'm enjoying the new board. Not that there was anything wrong with the old board, this one is just more 2006. Go technology.
