If you have a 360, there was an update of this game that you can download from xbox live. I'm usually pretty skeptical of "updates" but this one blew me away. if you played and LOVED the original on the NES, the new one is almost the same. Levels are similar, but have some modifications. Bosses are somewhat new. Guns were redone. You dont have to screw around with the communicator system now.

Worth the cost.
UPDATE
oh and here is the review.

Unfortunately, I do not have a 360.

I loved the original one. Mainly because it was one of my favorites as a kid and brings back a lot of memories. There are certain games that I played a ton as a kid. I have them all for my NES but one. I still need to find Bubble Bobble for my collection. Other games that are very nostalgic to me are:

Super Mario (all three)
Castelvania (all three
Zelda (both)
Ninja Gaiden
Strider
Blaster Master
Bionic Commando
Jackal
Code Name Viper
Blades of Steel
Double Dribble
Bases Loaded
Tecmo Bowl
Mike Tyson's Punch Out
Metroid
Kid Icarus
Mega Man (first 3)

I'm sure there are a few missing, but those games I can still play over and over again. I still know most of the secrets and codes.

NAN, I'll have to look through my games sometime, I think I might have Bubble Bobble. But it may be the second one.

And Bases Loaded was my favorite game ever.

All quality. Thank God for emulation. Too bad about the XBOX though. Rearmed was one of those games that truly surprised. I was pretty good at BC on NES and I was not able to get through the hardest difficulty of level 1 of Rearmed.

Just finished up The Conduit... it was very cool, although the ending was not very satisfying for my tastes... kinda like the ending of The Sopranos. It's over and you go "oh, I guess it's over then... wtf?".

Anyway, if you like FPS and have a Wii, you would be remiss not to pick it up.

My lord, the codes for that game were evil, like 5 lines with a million different letters. God help you if you copied that down wrong.

I never really got into RCR, but if you want to talk evil passwords, Battle of Olympus was all about them. I think it was something like 26 characters, but all of the text was in this font that made many letters indistinguishable... I don't even know how many times I had passwords that would not work because of that. I started noting letters that I was unsure of and would try different options for those till I got it right.

I love the game, but it is not without frustration... the olive (and later salamander skin) collecting is a major pain in the ass... and god help you if you happen to die on the way to buy what you saved up for. That said, once you know what to do it is fun, albeit still difficult. Playing it on ROM is better though because you can use save states before difficult sections so you don't lose your olives.

I actually got stuck originally (back before I had a computer and internet to look up faqs) and pretty much stopped playing because I literally had no idea where to go. I do have the real cartridge, but always play on ROMS now.

What do you use for ROMs? FCEUX and Snes9x has been my favorites for NES and SNES.

I use Jnes for NES. It has easy save state use and game genie support. I tend to use Zsnes for SNES games.

I just played and beat that game last year. It was the first time I played it in like 10 years. And you're right, the passwords are ridiculous. Tough game, but once you figure out what is going on, it is fun.

That's the RPG that takes place inside a giant tree, yes? I agree, great game, although I'd still rank Blaster Master as a better game (yikes, if any game needed passwords and didn't have them, it was Blaster Master). I'd also add Rygar and Goonies 2 to the list.

Oh, to find an emulator of this beauty. How many hours were spent hunched over my Apple IIgs playing this game and others like it? Wings of Fury (which was recently remade, IIRC), Kareteka, Summer/Winter/California Games...

Definitely add Rygar. I loved that game. I can't believe I didn't write it down.

Yes, Blaster Master definitely needed passwords. I spent hours trying to beat it. Beating the crab on board 5 was almost impossible. I'd keep dying. Then I'd quit, only to start all over. I used to have the first 5 board memorized.

When I finally beat the 5th board, I did pretty well beating the rest of the game.

I finished BioShock with the "good" ending last week, and this week I've been playing Far Cry 2. Not my favorite game (certainly not as good as BioShock by any means) because of the repetitive nature of the missions and the endless driving, but still very solid.
