I like Highly Refined Pirates a lot...especially the second song, but i haven't been too into their more recent releases. PLanet of Ice is solid...but i kind of feel the style they had that made me initially like them isn't there anymore.

I'm sitting here doing some research on the web and I get the urge to listen to one of my favorite Classical pieces, but I don't have the CD ripped and don't feel like walking over the the cabinet so I look it up on youtube. One of the most beautiful pieces around, with some technical fireworks thrown in. Enjoy.

Seventh studio album from Christian metal/hard rockers Project 86 coming out next Tuesday. Amazingly it hasn't leaked yet but the 5 songs on their myspace are all pretty decent and heavier than their last effort, which was more geared towards indie/alternative. Newer stuff is very much hard rockish, but you can't deny the power in the singer's voice, and frankly he's the reason why they've lasted so long. By far one of the best lyricists and vocalists in the hard rock/metal scene in terms of longevity and creativity.

This certainly isn't new, but I was listening to Deep Tracks on sirius and heard Return to forever - Romantic Warrior. I decided to get the album and I'm really enjoying it, I suppose it would classify as Jazz-Rock? Anyone ever listen?

I was digging for awhile for this one, but there's a few different listings for "Hi-Tech", and they obviously don't include this rapper. I knew it's been a few years since I heard this, but I had no idea that it went back to 1996.

This certainly isn't new, but I was listening to Deep Tracks on sirius and heard Return to forever - Romantic Warrior. I decided to get the album and I'm really enjoying it, I suppose it would classify as Jazz-Rock? Anyone ever listen?

This is Fusion (Jazz-Rock). RTF are a legendary group on the same level of musical greateness as Mozart or Beethoven, IMO. Sheer genius by everyone in the group, with Chick Corea on keys and Stanley Clarke on bass as the main members. This is music for musicians and for people who understand true music. This isn't entertainment music for dancing - this is art played by master musicians.

On a personal note, this is the kind of stuff I (mostly) moved to from Metal, although I'm sure I keep playing some Metal for as long as I live.

Every album these guys put out is quiet different, ranging from Jazz to an almost Rock sound.

If you get into this stuff, go to Amazon and order all their CDs. I think they have 7 studio albums. They of course have had countless other projects, solo or with other groups spanning decades. Al Di Meola was also part of the group and I think everybody knows who he is.

This is definitely my favorite fusion group. I spent hours and hours listening to RTF. And Stanley Clarke who himself has been a main influence and inspiration.

They were mostly an instrumental group, but did have quiet a few songs with vocals. I am an addict for female Jazz singers like Flora Purim with RTF.

if you think my opinion on the looks of some bimbo, the thread for which consisted completely of people giving their takes on her looks, is my "view on women", then mommy and daddy didn't do a good job of teaching you what's what in this world, man. ps. I never said she was a guy. I said she mas a mannish look. it's funny, I was hanging out with my friend ron yesterday, and ron is a fan of talking looks of celebrity women. well, he asked me what I thought of megan fox. I expressed that I thought she was rather manly looking. without missing a beat, he agreed...but then said she was still decent looking.

either way, it all good. by the way, I think return to forever is kind of lame proto-new age music, to be honest. go with mahavishnu orchestra if you want the real deal.

Not thrilled with it...i haven't been thrilled with any wilco since yankee hotel foxtrot.

they're an alt-country band sarcastic...atleast thats when they were good in my opinion...now they just kind of sound like the beatles.

They definitely have drifted from the alt-country sound of their earlier albums, but they're still one of my faves.

I'm not disappointed with their new album, but not in love with it, either; but it'd be tough for them to match Sky Blue Sky for me.... it was/is one of my top 10 favorites to put in and listen to from start to finish. Especially on a nice day.

i like autumn beds....moon & arctica and lonesome crowded west are such amazing albums...they kind of stray back to that sound...but i think they switched drummers a while ago and he was a major influence back then.
