Re: Restaurant Recommendations?
southside i really like tusca in the southside works. pretty tasty. if you like middle eastern, kassabs on carson is AMAZING. i really enjoy seviche and sonoma grille on liberty downtown. if price isn't an issue, eleven on smallman is very good (big burrito restaurant. if you dont mind shadyside, casbah on highland is very very good too) also capital grill has a good steak if you are looking for that. lidias on smallman in the strip is also very good italian and there tasting menu with the three different types of pasta is always a safe bet. but probably one of my fave restaurants is a place on the southside, on s 17th street is Dish. it is a small little restaurant great if you are going on a date and they have amazing italian food.

Re: Restaurant Recommendations
this is a pretty interesting place, they make everything in a wood oven that used to be used for coke processing:
http://www.azzeria.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
it is on Banksville Road. the pizza and wings were both very good
i also like Redfin Blues down under the 31st street bridge. very very good pizza there too along with a nice atmosphere
http://www.redfinblues.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
the union grille in oakland is typical "american" food and right across the street is lulus noodles, a great chinese place.
i swear by the Hofbrauhaus, the food is ok and pretty well priced but I just love sitting outside drinking liters of beer.
for take out type places i like south side steaks, mike and tonys gyros, pita pit

infact, im beginning to consider going there for lunch today.
i also like the speghetti warehouse. i think their food and prices are at least comparable to the olive garden, and their warm bread might have an edge.

Drinking outside at Hofbra is unbeatable. That place is legit whether it's 2 pm at lunch, 7 pm on a Wednesday, or 1 am on Saturday.

Re: Restaurant Recommendations?
Tessaro's in Bloomfield is one of my favorite restaurants in the city. They do what is called "American Hardwood" grilling. The food is awesome. And actually moderately priced.
The Thai restaurant up the street from Tessaro's is also quite good. I don't think it has an actual name...LOL
There is Pointe Brugge in Point Breeze. Belgian food and beer. Very good.
Umi, if you are into sushi and sashimi, is the best in the city for it. Soba Lounge, the restaurant under Umi, is very good as well. Both are on Ellsworth Avenue, Shadyside.
If you are in the mood for sandwiches and wings and a excellent beer selection, you can't beat Fatheads on the South Side. If you want wings, ribs, sandwiches and a decent beer selection, Buffalo Blues in Shadyside/E. Liberty is good.
Thaiphoon, the Thai restaurant by Buffalo Blues is good, too.

I believe the City Grill on the southside is owned by the same family.llipgh2 wrote:Tessaro's in Bloomfield is one of my favorite restaurants in the city. They do what is called "American Hardwood" grilling. The food is awesome. And actually moderately priced.
I have never been there but I read they are looking to open another location in Highland Park.llipgh2 wrote:There is Pointe Brugge in Point Breeze. Belgian food and beer. Very good.

I was there with this girl one night for dinner and drinks, and she got the moldiest bun i've ever seen a restaurant serve...and not only that they were complete jerks to her when she sent it back....I havent really had much food from there, but the pizza does smell real good.PenguinSteve-o wrote:Doc's place in Shadyside. another place a little further out that i like is the rivertowne pourhouse in monroeville. there are two other rivertownes (verona and n huntingdon) but they arent as nice and do not brew their own beer like the pour house. if you ever go to one order their soft pretzels.

I was just there saturday night before the gin blossoms concert. The upstairs deck was very nice, but you saw the open kitchen when you walked by and it looked like a bomb went off in there.Troy Loney wrote:I was there with this girl one night for dinner and drinks, and she got the moldiest bun i've ever seen a restaurant serve...and not only that they were complete jerks to her when she sent it back....I havent really had much food from there, but the pizza does smell real good.PenguinSteve-o wrote:Doc's place in Shadyside. Bean Curd in McMurray is the best Chinese food in the area, hands down. Don't believe anyone that touts Sesame Inn or PF [Sucks]. It just tastes the absolute freshest. I think the sushi is better than Nakama (though, not quite as good as Kiku in Station Square), as well.
