Didn't realize how tightly packed the bottom of the EPL table was until I went to see where Sunderland was at as they're playing right now. Should be a fun last few weeks if things stay that close down there.

In this same vein, CP needs about ten more minutes to get three crucial pointscount2infinity wrote:Didn't realize how tightly packed the bottom of the EPL table was until I went to see where Sunderland was at as they're playing right now. I want Crystal Palace to win, partially just because I'd find it amusing (Tottenham is the superior team). But man, is Fraizer Campbell detestable.

What a defensive game by Southampton.

What a defensive game by van Gaal. His decisions really defended their ability to get a point.

Ronaldo won the Ballon d'Or.
Adryan, meanwhile, won the Fallon d'Floor. (Link's to gfycat - GIF in spoiler, because it's 11 megs). Fallond'Floor link here.

West Ham finding ways to choke away the win & going on to the next round of the FA Cup. Let a 10-man Everton tie it up (and then went ahead in extra time), and then give up a goal lead in penalties - congrats, Stuart Downing. The West Ham goalie is annoying as heck.
Jesse must be going insane.
Don't care who wins. Just find it amusing. Long penalty kicks in soccer aren't that fun until it gets to the goalie vs. goalie stage. (Edit: It actually got to the goalie vs. goalie stages, haha.)

I saw that in 2014 for club and country he scored 61 goals in 60 matches. One goal every 83 minutes. Bananas.Avyran wrote:Ronaldo won the Ballon d'Or.

Hammers pulled it off
In other news, Scunthorpe lost. I did bot know how much I loved Scunthorpe until... Just now when I found out there was a Team called Scunthorpe.

Blowing a 1 goal advantage at home against a team down a man. The West Ham way. Either way, thanks Adrian for saving the day!
In all honesty, our squad is so much fun to watch. I've never been a part of a better Hammers run. Andy Carroll has been unplayable!

I'm going to assume this was a breakout from a corner or something and the goalie was attacking? There's a guy standing right there that would put him onside as well if the goalie was back.

Here's the play:
So yeah, if he was on the other side of the field it would've been offsides but that was just a terrible call. I'm trying to find a video of it

Ahh, I see. Well the spurs still won, so no harm really in my opinion. Sure it's a bad call but not a game deciding call. (Be really interesting if at the end of the year spurs end up one GD out of a champions league spot)

What do people think: can Southampton stay in the top 4?
The couple times I've seen them play, they've ground out wins against mid- or bottom-table teams (e.g. against Newcastle today), and while they certainly look better than the teams they're beating, don't pass the eye test of looking like a Champions League team (nor do they look like a CL team on paper).
But they keep on winning, are up 5 points on Spurs right now (in their customary 5th spot), and only have 4 reasonably hard games left: Chelsea and City on the road, and Spurs and Liverpool at home.

Re: LGP Futbol Thread - (CL, EPL, Serie A, Liga, 2016 Euros)
I've watched as many games of theirs as I can as I'm a huge fan of the team. I was skeptical of their start, but they just keep winning. The only really bad game that I've seen was against Man City. They've beaten Man U, they tied Chelsea, they lost a pretty tight game against spurs who look like the best team in the league and then the worst team in the league week by week. Do I think they can stay in the top 4? At the beginning of the year, I'd have said no. Now? Yeah, I think they can. I wouldn't be surprised to see them in the CL.

Soton were fortunate today and lost five straight not long ago.
They're a good side with a good manager, but it'll be tough to finish above both Man Utd and Arsenal. Toward the end of the season they'll play relegation-threatened teams who tend to surprise.
