Congrats on the U Penn flip btw, must have took all the negotiating effort in the world to convince the kid to give up a guaranteed slot at Goldman's M&A IBD group for 4 years of mediocrity and a future depositing my checks at PNC.

Also saw this... would be a nice transfer to get, immediately eligible, could probably push Voytik for a job, Chaney recruited him at Tenn.

It’s interesting to note that former Vols offensive coordinator Jim Chaney, who served in that capacity during Peterman’s redshirt season at Tennessee, recently took the same job with Pittsburgh. So a potential transfer definitely makes sense.

Not sure how legit this guy is on twitter, but it looks like the kid that committed/transferred tonight was the QB I mentioned in the above link....

Tennessee fans seem to like the kid, but he is just not a very good QB according to them. At least it's QB depth and he's apparently very good in the locker room.

QB Depth is much needed right now, so even if he isn't anything great, it helps to have at least someone there as depth with a bit of experience and pedigree in case Voytik goes down.

No doubt. I was just sharing the consensus I had seen. Voytik showed a lot of progress through the season, but I am not sold on him as a QB. So I completely agree that if they can make this work it is nothing but a good thing IMO.

Like Nick Bowers, it was always assumed that if Givens ever received an offer from PSU he'd flip. Guess Franklin wanted to reaffirm his status as the dominant recruiter by stealing a Pitt recruit at the last minute. Wonder if HCPN sends out a few last minute offers to up the numbers in this class.

Givens lives 45 minutes from PSU and didn't receive an offer until the day before signing day, had only received scholarship offers from Pitt, Temple, and Western Michigan, Penn State already had 24 commitments in this recruiting class, and were already pretty full at either of the positions Givens might play in college. All PSU ever had to do to get him was offer a scholarship. He committed to Pitt because it was the best offer he had received. Yea, I'd say this was all done out of spite.

Not really sad at all. Brightwell and McKee are better than Givens and Bowers wasn't in a position of need. Congrats, out of spite you offered scholarships to a kid that wanted to major in Forestry and a kid that lives 45 minutes from State College and grew up dreaming of playing for PSU. It's really not much of an accomplishment or a blow to Pitt.

you should read last year's PSU thread. It's littered with them. But don't worry... you guys haven't had a scandal, so Pitt is now the moral authority in Pennsylvania. Couple that with we don't really want to claim DTMB, but he insists on being a PSU fan.
