also, shaf, there's no reason to expect your kid to stop sleeping so well. my daughter's 2 and she sleeps from 7:45 to 7:30 every day.

We have had a date night about every 4 weeks since the boy was born. We understand how blessed we are by that. Granted, the first few were about 40 minutes long because the wife didn't want to be gone for very long

Re: LGP Parenting Thread
I was concerned going from two kids to three mainly because they now outnumber my wife and I. But it ended up not being a big deal. Our kids are 2 years apart, so that helps (We know a couple who's three kids are spaced a year apart. I don't think I could handle that). Our oldest was 4.5 when our youngest was born. She was already mature for her age and she helped out a lot when our youngest was an infant. Our middle kid was 2 years old and she was able to do small things and my oldest daughter would help her a lot too. Now, it is either my wife or I handles the youngest one while the other handles our two oldest, but they are more indepentent now so it is not all pull hair out stress time (except when they are all tired, I will not miss that when the kids get older. Yeesh)

Mine are currently 4.5, 2.75, 1.5
Three kids in three years was a huge mistake, and it drives me to the brink of going to Bellvue at least three times a week. I wouldn't trade any of them for the world, but man do I wish we'd separated them out better (not that the last two were planned at all, and I lost the argument to get snipped after the second).

I have 3 older brothers and the closest in age is 5 years. I never really bonded with any of them until my 20s. I wanted ours to be closer but that probably isn't happening.

My wife was on the fence. But she understands what 3 would do to me. Also, the argument of, "never for 1 second of my entire life have I remotely considered having 3 kids" is a pretty strong statement.CBear3 wrote:Mine are currently 4.5, 2.75, 1.5

Re: LGP Parenting Thread
Both of us only want two, and after how hard this pregnancy has been, I don't see any way my wife will want another.
We're in "any day now" mode with this kid. My anticipation is really different this time around. I actually know what's going to come out of there. I can't really describe how that changes my mindset, but it definitely does.

Yup, I know it's a cliche, but we are sticking to the "no more kids than you have hands/arms" mentality. I am getting snipped as soon as it's verified #2 is healthy, whenever he/she comes (not expecting yet). People wanting five or six children...I don't understand it, but more power to you. We native-born Americans need to start breeding already

Re: LGP Parenting Thread
My son has a mild fever (102.4 last night and 100.4 this morning with a spike up to 101.4 this afternoon). He also complained a little about a sore throat which makes sense since he didn't eat much yesterday. He did, however, crush a ton of oatmeal this morning before not wanting to eat his chicken noodle soup for lunch. His post nap diaper (captured about 30 minutes ago) was the most atrocious smell I have ever encountered in his 3 years on this planet. Yeah, poop, but it's the parenting thread and I wanted to share. I'm sure you have all had your fair share of smelly incidents but MY GOD this was other worldly...

I've heard many people say that once they outnumber you all bets are offshafnutz05 wrote:Yup, I know it's a cliche, but we are sticking to the "no more kids than you have hands/arms" mentality. We wanted twins, one boy and one girl, just to get it all out of the way ASAP. Not sure if I could have handled 2 at once. If #2 is a girl we will most certainly stop there but I wont get snipped. If #2 is a boy we might try for a third cause I really would like to have a daughter. There is something special about the father/daughter and mother/son relationships that I would like to experience.

Chasing a certain gender is a fool's errand. You'll just end up with infinity boys.

It's different with #2. The magic isn't there the same way. Then you get home and have this awesome toddler to engage with and this little lump who just craps everywhere. The toddler is way cooler.Kraftster wrote:Both of us only want two, and after how hard this pregnancy has been, I don't see any way my wife will want another.

I never wanted more than 2. We had 3 and I could easily go for 7 more.

I have a hard enough time interacting/taking care of one easy girl with a hangover. I can't even imagine more than 3.eddysnake wrote:I never wanted more than 2. We had 3 and I could easily go for 7 more.

Hangovers with infants may be hardest thing in the world, but when they get older you can just watch awesome movies all day.shafnutz05 wrote:I have a hard enough time interacting/taking care of one easy girl with a hangover. My 7 year old just illustrated ram jams black betty. Yes I realize this makes no sense, but it's also every reason I love these peculiar little humans.

I am my oldest niece's godfather.
We have 3 boys; the first two being twins. My brother has 3 girls, and my wife's sister has 3 girls; brother has 2 girls.
These kids just grow up too fast nowadays. My goddaughter is a senior in highschool, and it freaks me out a little.

Mrs PghSkins wanted 5. Took the chance she would come to her senses. She did. Had her tubes tied after 3 c-sections.

Mrs. meow and I plan on having kids until we have one of each sex. Boy is taken care of, so number 2 better be a girl.

lol, this approach scares me. Shmenguin commented, but all I can think ismeow wrote:Mrs. meow and I plan on having kids until we have one of each sex. Boy is taken care of, so number 2 better be a girl.

Good for you and Mrs. Meow though if you have the mindset and means
