Re: Odd Things You Read on Your Facebook Wall Thread
Yeah, nothing wrong with some beer pics, but I would remove any reference to the company, or just create a new page without the company name. Prior to facebook but related - a friend of mine almost got fired once because he sent out a flyer for a keg party, and the flyer had pics of kegs on it or something like that - and he included his work phone number (and maybe the company name too? i don't remember) on the flyer.bhaw wrote:It doesn't but when you work for a 100 year old Fortune 500 company, you typically don't want that out there... Not for public but for internal reasons. Large companies are very conservative and last thing you need is someone suing bc they lost their job or didn't get a promotion bc they claim they were viewed differently due to pics posted they didn't consent to. Sounds ridiculous, but in large companies, people sue for ridiculous things.DudeMan2766 wrote:bhaw wrote:So my work started a FB group last year called "(company name) @ Work." It is a closed group for only people at our office where people can converse. It's not an official company page but its clearly associated to us.
Last week we had a company outing at a dbacks game. The next day, they posted a ton of pics to show what a great time they had. Only issue I had was that about 8 of the pics were of people drinking. I stepped in and said we should remove the drinking ones since the FB page is associated with work and we are associated with a huge corporation. Pretty rational, right? I, as expected, got crap because "that's not our culture." I said that putting up pictures that could potentially cause issues with employees have no impact on our culture and there are dozens of others that would still show how fun the event was w/o alcohol in them. Finally, they got taken down.
Fast forward to today where someone posts about how our culture committee should get better candy for the bag they leave on people's desks for their bday or work anniversary. That post was removed 2 minutes later. Priorities much?
Why does responsible drinking on an occasion project such a negative public image?

So a friend of mine from high school died last summer in a car accident. She was a pretty close friend to me, but not one of my best friends. I find it a little odd that people are still posting things on her wall, and not even on days like her birthday or the day she died or holidays. It's all the time, just randomly posting on her wall. I find it a little creepy.

I watched the game too. I don't find this odd based on how it went.mac5155 wrote:I would rather go through the torture in the beginning of the song method man by wu tang clan than watch this penguins game.

Re: Odd Things You Read on Your Facebook Wall Thread
I'm getting a new PC. It's uses a cell phone CPU so that it can use much less power than a usual PC. This means it doesn't need to run a fan to keep it from overheating which saves even more electricity. I'm getting it because without a fan it is quiet and I like the money I will save on my electricity bill.
But I want to be clear that I'm not buying it to conserve. Conservation of resources is a moronic waste of time. When you conserve something, you are sending a signal to the pro-lifers to go out and spawn another baby. The Earth's ecology can not win such a game. Instead, an ecologist should make a point of wasting water when we are in a drought situation.

I had probably 3-4 friends like that. I hope that they weren't offended that I defriended them.count2infinity wrote:So a friend of mine from high school died last summer in a car accident. My dad was a conservationist, probably not knowing what a conservationist was for most of his life. I heard him once emphasize that paper coffee filters can be reused.
So for the past month, when I've gone to the store, I've forgotten to buy filters. I'm about on my 30th day with the same coffee filter.

I had a massive facebook cleanout a few weeks ago. Removed all of the people from my last company and a lot of people from the old department at my current company...and a few remaining people from other places i've lived between leaving Pittsburgh and now. I think i'm down to like 50 or 60 "friends", basically only people I think I have a realistic chance of seeing again.

I did the same about a month ago. If I have never met you in person or if I don't know 3 unique things about you, adios.Idoit40fans wrote:I had a massive facebook cleanout a few weeks ago.
