When is it too early to start implementing Bluthian scare tactics to teach lessons?

Re: LGP Parenting Thread
I got a text from daycare at 11:50 saying my son has a low fever of 101 and a tummy ache. He also has a cough but he's had that for about 2 weeks and I just assume it stems from the cold he had then. At 12:30 the fever spiked to 104. I know it's nothing to panic about but I'm at work and don't have a car so I can't leave. My wife is in a meeting all day and I can't get a hold of her and my mother in law is in PT all day and wont be done until after 5. I hate these helpless moments.
Our daycare provider is taking him to the doctor at 2. I just wish I could at least be there to pick him up from there and take him home.

Re: LGP Parenting Thread
If our daughter goes over 101 I think they basically call us and say "come get her". She's been home all week....first it was coughing/chest stuff, now she is getting over that but then she spiked a fever yesterday and now her teeth are really bothering her. I've literally heard her cry more since Monday than I have since Christmas.
I feel absolutely awful for her and trying to do what I can but it tests your sanity.

Thankfully our daycare provider is a close friend and our son is the only "customer" she has.

That's pretty nice that your babysitter will take him to the doctors. Nice safety net for days like today.PensFanInDC wrote:Thankfully our daycare provider is a close friend and our son is the only "customer" she has.

No kidding! We got a hold of my mother in law and she actually was able to grab him. They are at the doctor now.

Highly recommend popsicles for teething. Our daughter is the happiest she has been in the last couple of days right now.

My wife had frozen pickles when she was a kid. Same difference I guess. I would prefer a popsicle but Alton Brown has a cool recipe for frozen pickles.
Can't find a link to his recipe but these are the same thing:http://www.seriouseats.com/2013/04/how- ... essee.html

We use herbal teething tablets, along with popsicles. The teething tablets are worth their weight in gold.

Re: LGP Parenting Thread
Son is finished at the doc. All tests are negative so far. I had no idea that they can do throat cultures and get results in 5 minutes. All of those were negative but they will do 24 and 48 hour cultures just to be safe.
What is most amazing about this is how he was very open and honest with the doctor about what was hurting him and he even offered up some symptoms that we could not see like sore throat and pain when he urinates. Thus the cultures. I have to remember that he isn't a baby anymore. He's a boy. He actually has the ability to tell me what's wrong.

I was a little too tall
Could've used a few pounds
Tight pants points hardly reknown
She was a black-haired beauty with big dark eyes
And points all her own sitting way up high
Way up firm and high
Oh, wait... night terrors...

Re: LGP Parenting Thread
3 nights of fever induced night terrors for the boy. I am pretty exhausted. Anyone else experience this before? The terrors were not as bad as someone suffering from them on a regular basis. He didn't thrash very much and was calmed down in 2-3 minutes, but man, are these scary. The fever is down this morning so here is hoping for a full night's sleep tonight.

Re: LGP Parenting Thread
Hope things have gotten better PFIDC. The littlest brought back stomach Ebola from daycare Tuesday. Last night it hit the other four of us. So the 4 year old camped out on the floor, the two year old in our bed, me on the couch, wife in bed with the two year old.
Now the littlest is crawling all over trying to play and the rest of us are practically comatose. Great end to the weekend.

Letting your baby sleep on its belly...yay or nay?
We had to say screw it recently and just put my son face down. He's a great kid but he can't figure out how to go to the bathroom or pass gas on his back. Everyone's nights have been much smoother since.
