Re: LGP NASCAR Thread
If they'd just have these races in domes there would be no problems.

Re: LGP NASCAR Thread
DIS Pres Joie Chitwood says the 5 or 6 o'clock time frame is likely deadline again tomorrow.
The problem with Tuesday race is teams need to get haulers to Charlotte and 30 hours to drive to Phoenix. Not a lot of wiggle time
DIS president Joie Chitwood wouldn't commit to a Tuesday race if needed. Also wouldn't say how late they'd try to go tomorrow.
^ But Steve O'Donnell said they would race Tuesday.

Indeed, it's 41 hours driving (nonstop) from Daytona to Charlotte to Phoenix.

I truly believe that this 500 had the chance to be one of the highest rated ever. So much anticipation and excitement around it. The ratings for the NNS and Truck race were up a lot.

No way they are racing today. I just checked the forecast for Daytona....it just says "Thunderstorms" with an 80% chance of rain. The best thing they can hope for would be for the rain to delay it into the evening, and get the race started tonight around 7-8. No way they get it in during the day today though.

Re: LGP NASCAR Thread
The one year i went to Daytona was pretty lame ('95, I think) It was delayed several times by rain and the back stretch was so far away you could barely see the cars. Im happy to say Ive been there but wouldnt go back.
Maybe they should run the Daytona 500 on Saturday so in case of bad weather they can still get it in on Sunday (assuming the weather clears) and most of the crowd will still be there and, more importantly, sponsors still get seen on TV. Gambling that you'll have 1 nice day in February in Florida to run your 'Super Bowl' in is ridiculous IMO. Who cares if the Nationwide race gets bumped to Monday

I went in '02 and only got to see half of the race. They just barely got 250 miles in. Sad part is the rain stopped about 2 hours later and never rained again the rest of the week.

If it is going to rain today, fine. Just hope they would learn and not start at Noon. 3pm better than noon, because maybe I get home in time to see the finish live that way. Though, I guess I should be thankful - last year's rainouts were ran at 11am.

There is a puncher's chance they can get in the race this evening, which would be perfect for us. I really think it's going to be tomorrow at 11 AM though.

Fox has new TV on tonight. Nascar Weather Man says 6-8 is realisitic. Update coming in 10 minutes. I'm going to hit 10k posts today!shafnutz05 wrote:There is a puncher's chance they can get in the race this evening, which would be perfect for us. 7:02 EST is the new goal.
Why did they make all of those people come out to the track so early?

I have Carl Edwards in my race pole. Is that good?

If there are 43 people in the pool, yes, very good. Even if there are far fewer, he has to be one of the top 10 or so drivers. The Fords are very good all week, and Edwards finished second last year.newarenanow wrote:I have Carl Edwards in my race pole. Is that good?

Yep. Good pick.newarenanow wrote:I have Carl Edwards in my race pole. Is that good?
All they had to do was look at the radar. Its ugly. This 7PM start is going to be epic. Hope that means a HUGE ratings number for the race. Always wanted a week night NASCAR race!TheHammer24 wrote:7:02 EST is the new goal.

7PM good, actually saves us DVR space since it will preempt House and Alcatraz.

Then that pick is absolutely phenomenal. I feel for whomever got Robby Gordon or David Gilliand. Although, Daytona has been pretty wide open.newarenanow wrote:Yeah, 43 people are in.TheHammer24 wrote:If there are 43 people in the pool, yes, very good. Steve O'Donnell noted yesterday that it takes way more than 2 hours to dry the track after the sun goes down. That's something to keep in mind.

Yeah what happened to R. Gordon? I picked him in my Yahoo fantasy league and now he isn't racing?

What does it mean if the driver is on your bench? I have four people "starting" and four people on the bench. What's the point of the bench?
