Re: NBA
My NBA interest extends no further than checking box scores to see how former Pitt players are doing. I saw this morning that Aaron Gray was waived by the Pistons earlier in the week after missing training camp and the preseason after suffering a "cardiac event". Hope the big guy is doing alright.

Re: NBA
he's never played defense in his life, he's a ballhog and he can't shoot 3s.
he had an above-average year last year (in terms of offense...he was still bad defensively). much more of a outlier than his status quo.

Re: NBA
Monta is a solid 3pt shooter after the break. His top of the key shooting isn't selective and suffers because of it. I've seen the Jason Terry parallels a couple of times re: Being in a bad situation and Dirk/Dallas organization being a reset button. Carlisle got Ellis to attack the net more frequently and he is dangerous when he does. This opens the pick and roll to dirk (and will to Parsons with time). He's also not relied on his midrange jumpers to be successful. He's become more versatile. He came from a crumb bum situation that was just dysfunctional. He's got people to play with. He's got a fresh perspective. He's got skill.
He's not a complete player. Most players, outside of the elite, aren't. That doesn't mean he's not good.

Also, Kobe passing Havlicek for the most misses in NBA history. In the same vein as Favre, volume doesn't make you a great player. A lot of points means nothing when you have a lot of misses.

Re: NBA
I think he's great, but I think he's slightly overrated when taking about all-time players. A lot of people peg him as the second greatest SG in history (behind you know who) and I'm just pretty hesitant to put him there.
To be honest, I just have an irrational dislike for him. I've never liked this game (chuck everything up, play opportunistic defense) so I'm biased against him. I'd rather take a super efficient Reggie Miller even though Miller isn't as good as a creator as Kobe. It's the same reason I called Monte Ellis a bad player before; I just hate their play style.

Comparing Bryant and Ellis defensively is lulz.MalkinIsMyHomeboy wrote:I think he's great, but I think he's slightly overrated when taking about all-time players. A lot of people peg him as the second greatest SG in history (behind you know who) and I'm just pretty hesitant to put him there.
