I had to dive into the Chukchi Sea somewhere north of the Arctic Circle to become an "Honorable Polar Bear" when I was in the service. The water was 30 degrees F. These people dumping ice into the water approximately two seconds before they dump it on their heads are babies

That's insane. I certainly could not have done that.
I did a PB plunge last year. It wasn't arctic water but the Chesapeake Bay is pretty cold in January.

Shadnutz here, challenging canaan, kicksave, EPP and malkamaniac to the Arctic plunge challenge. You have 24 hours to jump into the arctic ocean and fight a polar bear. If you do not complete this challenge you must donate to the Right Wing Nut Job Foundation.

lolol....the Realm of the Golden Dragon ceremony was probably worse. We had to crawl "through the whale's belly" (Translation: a week or more's supply of composted food scraps that the chefs were kindly enough to save for the occasion).

This ice thing is basically the Harlem Shake. I had no idea what it was for a while, then thought, "I can't believe something so ordinary became an Internet sensation". Good for the charity though , I guess

Typical, drop the Marines off to do the fighting and once you have the ship to yourselves you start cross-dressing.tifosi77 wrote:Someone should explain the Line-Crossing Ceremony. Read up on Guadalcanal and Douglas Munro and talk to me about the relationship between the USCG and USMC

My dig was on the Navy, for what it's worth. Marines rarely shipride with the USCG in mass, if ever. They'll serve alongside each other in unique billets but that's about it. I wanted to join the USCG, but was denied, so I settled for the Marines.

Also, my favorite thing about the ice bucket challenge is that people "...have 24 hours to complete the challenge or to donate $100 to ALS research." So by doing the challenge, they are sticking their middle finger up to ALS research and would prefer to look like an idiot on the internet.
