All I can find is "The ALS Association, the nation’s largest ALS charity, says it’s raised $1.35 million in the past two weeks" which is hardly "$2 million alone yesterday".

I believe your number is referring to just 1 organization. Perhaps DelPen's is referring to multiple?
I dunno. I just don't really see why the exact number matters. It's more than they normally get.

Of all the things I've seen regarding this, only one screen grab of someone's donation checkout page has made it through my facebook. That's what people should be posting, not some asinine video.

Awareness is nearly as good as a donation IMO. If the head of the ALS foundation likes it, then so do I

ALS Ice Bucket Challenge Takes U.S. by Storm
Between July 29 and today, August 12, The ALS Association and its 38 chapters have received an astonishing $4 million in donations compared to $1.12 million during the same time period last year.

Awareness is pointless if it doesn't lead to donation. Its the donations that matter...or rather the research I guess.

Seeing people now take a bowl of water with a couple ice cubes in it and dump it on their head in their showers is annoying.
Its ice bucket, not cool water bowl.

I think posting proof that you donated is lame as all hell. If you donate, do it for the right reasons, not so you can post a screenshot of a receipt so you can show off to everyone how selfless and generous you aremeow wrote:Of all the things I've seen regarding this, only one screen grab of someone's donation checkout page has made it through my facebook. If everyone was donating for the right reasons then there wouldn't be this surge in donationsMr. Colby wrote:I think posting proof that you donated is lame as all hell. Can't argue with this, it's definitely only happening because it's the "in" thing to do at the moment. What i mean is that the ^ awareness and ^ donations is awesome, but i don't need proof that you donated. Donate if you can/want to, and let it be the end of it.LeopardLetang wrote:If everyone was donating for the right reasons then there wouldn't be this surge in donationsMr. Colby wrote:I think posting proof that you donated is lame as all hell. But like somebody else said, if the guy leading the effort doesn't care why people are donating, neither do i

Start the Chug a Beer challenge and you have to donate $10 to AA.
That'll piss some people off.

My buddy did that Friday night. He was drunk and posted a video challenging 3 people to drink. He said "its not going to make anyone not have a disease, but just do it anyway." It was funny because he was ripped and probably had no idea he did it until his phone started blowing up in the morning with notifications.blackjack68 wrote:Start the Chug a Beer challenge and you have to donate $10 to AA.
