BTW, Jamie Benn may have just given the WORST excuse to the media for his cross-check to the head of Mark Stone. He claims he fell and used his stick to brace himself.
I cannot find one person that watches the sequence and sees that as how things played out.

Give him credit for trying. It is not like he has to convince a bunch of geniuses over at the NHLPS

Assuming the Stars are disposed of in the next game, Benn will have to miss opening day and forfeit his game check.

Should had done 4 minimum so he was at least done for this series if Dallas were to even come back.Three Stars wrote:Assuming the Stars are disposed of in the next game, Benn will have to miss opening day and forfeit his game check.

That's about what I expected after they totally blew it with the Pietrangelo deliberate attempt to break Draisatl's wrist and deeming that a 1 game suspension since Draisatl escaped injury. Since Stone wasn't injured, I thought it would be 1-2 games. NHLPS could care less about intent and I'm pretty sure the NHLPA feels the same way.Skatingpen wrote:2 games for Benn

Bennet’s hit on Slavin is the hardest 100% clean hit I have seen in a while.

Seriously. And that's their captain? Arguably cost them the season. He needs to be better than that. Should lose his captaincy for putting his team in that position.murphydump55 wrote:Lost all respect. Just own it. I don’t know how he is cleared to be back on the ice.KG wrote:Looked like Slavin was out on his feet.DelPen wrote:Bennet’s hit on Slavin is the hardest 100% clean hit I have seen in a while.

Looked like a clean hit. Slavin's head hitting to boards and then bouncing on the ice probably concussed him if he wasn't already at that point.DelPen wrote:I don’t know how he is cleared to be back on the ice.KG wrote:Looked like Slavin was out on his feet.DelPen wrote:Bennet’s hit on Slavin is the hardest 100% clean hit I have seen in a while.
Hit looked a lot like Svechnikov's on Lindholm last year in the playoffs game 1 that knocked him out for the series.

Burns with a cup check on Tkachuk, Canes aren’t going to win this unless they stop this garbage.

Canes got hosed. Call a tickey tack trip in last minute of play.
Give me a break

Broadcast talked about a no-call on Duclair right before, but I didn't see a replay. But...right before that, when Florida had the puck in the Carolina end, Barkov was held along the boards trying to get into the zone and get to the puck, and nothing was called.KG wrote:Canes got hosed. It was a trip, and there were calls before on both sides that were let go.
I also think the review got the goal call correct. Bennett had his stick between his legs but I saw nothing that impeded Andersen from making a save.

Duclair cross checked Pesce to the ice behind the net and then Staal had the trip. It happens. The officiating was pretty bad and erratic all series.FLPensFan wrote:Broadcast talked about a no-call on Duclair right before, but I didn't see a replay. What I want to know is how Bill Zito is one of the three finalists for GM of the year when it's a regular season award and FL went from Presidents Trophy last year to making the playoffs at Game 81 this season?

Let’s see the vote tallies. He could be a very distant 3rd place and not much ahead of the 4th thru 10th place finishers.FLPensFan wrote:Likely for the one big move he made over the summer...getting Tkachuk for Huberdeau and Weegar.brwi wrote:What I want to know is how Bill Zito is one of the three finalists for GM of the year when it's a regular season award and FL went from Presidents Trophy last year to making the playoffs at Game 81 this season?
