OK, take out all the Obama imagery and just read the text.
80% of what he writes has come to pass, but I guess you could say that in any age.
This is the slightly updated version (1996) from what he wrote in 1964.
If I were the prince of darkness, I would want to engulf the whole world in darkness.
I'd have a third of its real estate and four-fifths of its population, but I would not be happy until I had seized the ripest apple on the tree — thee.
So, I would set about however necessary to take over the United States.
I'd subvert the churches first, and I would begin with a campaign of whispers.
With the wisdom of a serpent, I would whisper to you as I whispered to Eve: "Do as you please."
To the young, I would whisper that the Bible is a myth. I would convince the children that man created God instead of the other way around. I'd confide that what's bad is good and what's good is square.
And the old, I would teach to pray after me, "Our Father, which are in Washington ..."
Then, I'd get organized, I'd educate authors in how to make lurid literature exciting so that anything else would appear dull and uninteresting.
I'd peddle narcotics to whom I could. I'd sell alcohol to ladies and gentlemen of distinction. I'd tranquilize the rest with pills.
If I were the devil, I'd soon have families at war with themselves, churches at war with themselves and nations at war with themselves until each, in its turn, was consumed.
And with promises of higher ratings, I'd have mesmerizing media fanning the flames.
If I were the devil, I would encourage schools to refine young intellect but neglect to discipline emotions. I'd tell teachers to let those students run wil. And before you knew it, you'd have drug-sniffing dogs and metal detectors at every schoolhouse door.
With a decade, I'd have prisons overflowing and judges promoting pornography. Soon, I would evict God from the courthouse and the schoolhouse and them from the houses of Congress.
In his own churches, I would substitute psychology for religion and deify science. I'd lure priests and pastors into misusing boys and girls and church money.
If I were the devil, I'd take from those who have and give to those who wanted until I had killed the incentive of the ambitious.
What'll you bet I couldn't get whole states to promote gambling as the way to get rich?
I'd convince the young that marriage is old-fashioned, that swinging is more fun and that what you see on television is the way to be.
And thus, I could undress you in public and lure you into bed with diseases for which there are no cures.
In other words, if I were the devil, I'd just keep right on doing what he's doing. Read more at http://www.snopes.com/politics/soapbox/ ... 6W9swSi.99" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

This. I think people view non profits as a strictly volunteer type business. Some are big businesses that do not operate for profit, but the CEOs, etc still do the same work, need the same skill set, and yes, are in the same pay grade as for profit companies.shmenguin wrote:if you want a highly capable, qualified and intelligent person to run a large scale organization...they aren't going to do it for free.MalkinIsMyHomeboy wrote:Apparently the Goodwill CEO made $725k in 2011.

There was nothing wrong with messages in the regular app. Not everyone uses it as a chat app. Why should i run two apps at the same time to have the same functionality? Its not like the regular facebook app was improved once messenger functionality was removed.mac5155 wrote:Yeah what is the big issue with it that people are refusing to install the messenger app?

I am ALL for the spreading awareness for an incredible cause, especially one like Lou Gherig's, but there's got to be a better way than dumping a precious, finite resource like water, that millions of people don't have readily available, over millions of heads. Dumb/catchy things go viral, I know that as a marketer, and it's incredible to see celebs use their fame for good, but seeing something so precious as water being dumped (which we foolishly take for granted! Do your homework haters!) makes me cringe every time I see another challenge. Go green and donate, THAT benefits everyone!! #ALSicebucketchallenge #watercrisis

The Lady GaGa ALS thing and women who are in their 30's oogling over how "artistic" it is. Get real, I wish she'd just go away forever.

I hate the word "haters". You know who had haters? Hitler.
Yes, I am comparing teenagers to Hitler.

Wouldn't water spilled outside just evaporate and return to the ecosystem via the water cycle we all learned about in 3rd grade?
The Soup had a pretty good IBC Fail this week. Guy filled about half of a full sized garbage can and let his two kids about 6 years old push it off a deck landing. It came down sideways.

An organization as large as Goodwill has many contractual obligations that require someone that can understand and manage generated revenues. Revenues that require someone that understands the legalities of such lofty numbers are key to survival. Employees, assets, permits, insurances, utilities, government nonprofit filings of general ledgers, etc....Mr. Colby wrote:Yeah but why should a CEO get paid like a CEO?
Yeah, that is a full time job worthy of someone that understands it all and worthy of said compensation.

Thank you BigMcK, and I agree. I kind of bristle when I see people angrily question the pay of charity CEOs. I'm not denying that some charities spend a far too small percentage of their income on actual causes. But a charity is a lot like any other for-profit organization, and it takes CEOs with a leading amount of business acumen to manage.
And to add, I would argue that a non-profit charity requires even more careful handling of matters than your standard corporation.

I agree that that an organization such as Goodwill needs a highly qualified administrator; sticking it to blind people shouldn't necessarily be an indicator of such, however.

Going back to the ALS challenge, I think the universal nature of it has been cool (Preibus nominating Wasserman-Schultz), etc. Of all the viral stuff that has happened in social media going back for many years, this has to be the most viral thing ever, no?
