Possibly, but I'm still donating the same amount to my normal charities, so this was an additional to my annual one.MalkinIsMyHomeboy wrote:I wonder if other charities are getting less money because people are paying attention to the ALS ones.

Re: Official LGP Facebook Complaint Thread
I was listening to Bill Burr's podcast and he was talking about the ALS thing. He started talking about the natural resources thing and how we have plenty of water, ut its still a slap in the face to a good portion of the world. I didn't really care about that part, because as has been mentioned, its not like that water was going to them, but the part that I really agreed with is people making it all about themselves. Someone challenged him and he said no im not going to do it i just donated money and they started calling him a c-bomb and stuff for not sending them a video of it. Thats really the annoying thing about it. Thats great that a lot of people are raising awareness and causing donations, but most people are definitely missing the point.

Re: Official LGP Facebook Complaint Thread
Yeah, I never got that whole "water crisis" part...that bucket of water was not earmarked for anyone who needs it...so they aren't missing out...and if clean water is at the top of their "needs" list, they likely aren't watching YouTube videos of people dumping it on themselves...it's a silly precedent to set in one's daily life...an unnecessary attempt at a guilt trip...
As for getting harassed for not dumping water on yourself or not making a video of such, well, the idea of the stunt is to raise awareness (and/or money) for the cause...the water dump is just a viral byproduct of the cause, of course...hard to believe people could be upset by the lack of video evidence...

It hard for you to believe that? That seems like exactly what i've thought about this whole movement since it started.

Yeah, I guess you're right...it's not hard for me to believe...but it's difficult to understand...maybe that's a better way to describe my incredulousness...

I'm annoyed by anyone who nominates more than 3 people or anyone that makes their video all about them.

To those that have been critical of the ice bucket challenge, check out this video. After about 2 minutes after the actual "challenge", you can really tell how important this movement has been for someone who actually has ALS. Although it might be stupid to you, it has been important to a lot of people.

Re: Official LGP Facebook Complaint Thread
one thing i don't like about facebook and ads is I'll sometimes just randomly search for something on google and i'll get ads non-stop on my newsfeed. for example: woot had some plant pots and I was curious as to reviews for them, so I googled the brand. Now I have been getting hit non-stop with planting pots ads.

Okay so I have a question for my brothers and sisters in Christ. If you are not a Christian please don't respond.
So I've seen things going around about how ALS research and aborted babies are linked through stem cell research. They're using already aborted babies, right? Not aborting for the purpose of research? If they're aborting for the research that's obviously wrong. But if they aren't, is it wrong of them to do that? Why or why not?
Not debating. this is a sincere question I asked *name of friend* last night and we never really came to a conclusion with solid backup.
