That place is all kinds of fail apparently.
Wow. Terrible safety practices. Also note the selection of guns from the pictures: a Glock, a S&W .500, a Desert Eagle, and a collection of Class III weapons. It's like a checklist list of the guns that people who only know guns from watching movies would want to shoot.

There are multiple places like that in and around Vegas.

Look at his stance and grip. The grip stands out immediately to me. And he's leaning back. Again...poor safety and poor instruction.

Every time we go to Vegas, we go to American Shooters for an afternoon. They have pretty much everything you can imagine, including a Barrett M107. And I have to confess that I've never ponied up to shoot it in large part because of that stupid video.

I stand there at the counter, oogling the thing. And that voice just rings in my ears..... "We're not doing that any more."

Snagged a Barska 1-4x28 for my AR. Can't wait to try it out, hopefully the weather holds tomorrow and Amazon gets it to my place.

Ended up getting a Sig P250 last weekend. Next gunshow I swear I'm walking away with an M&P 15.

I think there are much better options than an M&P15 honestly. I have a DPMS and I'd put it up against one any day. My buddy just bought a Sig516 and it is slick but also cost about 2x as much.

So I could have bought a Tavor, 10 Mags and 2,000 rounds of ammo or get my 4th metecarpal surgically repaired. Thinking I made the bad choice since this could turn into a Barrett .50

I'm traveling to WV next week and would like to take my pistol along, but to get to WV, I'll be driving through MD. Would keeping the pistol unloaded on my camera bag and the magazine in the trunk be legal? Or should I just leave it at home?

It's legal as long as you don't stop in MD. Just keep ammo a and gun seperate and locked to be safe. Just don't do anything stupid.
Federal Law on Transporting Firearms:
§ 926A. Interstate Transportation of Firearms
Notwithstanding any other provision of any law or any rule or regulation of a State or any political subdivision thereof, any person who is not otherwise prohibited by this chapter from transporting, shipping, or receiving a firearm shall be entitled to transport a firearm for any lawful purpose from any place where he may lawfully possess and carry such firearm to any other place where he may lawfully possess and carry such firearm if, during such transportation the firearm is unloaded, and neither the firearm nor any ammunition being transported is readily accessible or is directly accessible from the passenger compartment of such transporting vehicle: Provided, That in the case of a vehicle without a compartment separate from the driver’s compartment the firearm or ammunition shall be contained in a locked container other than the glove compartment or console.
Note: If you travel through MD with the firearm unloaded and secured you are covered under Federal law. If you stop or interrupt your trip you then come under state law.

Google FOPA and you'll have all the details of how you need to transport your gun through MD. Just don't make any stops in MD (even a bathroom break). Technically minor stops are legal, but some MD agencies will hassle you and most don't understand or care about FOPA. Its just not worth the potential hassle.

MD state laws are actually not as strict as FOPA, but they have one clause that will get you. To transport a handgun in MD you need to be doing it for one of the predefined sets of reasons. Directly to/from a shooting range, place of purchase / repair. I don't remember all the pre defined reasons, but there aren't many of them. If you don't meet one of the reasons you will be arrested. MD law only says the gun must be unloaded and in an enclosed case or holster. MD has no laws stating it must be locked / in the trunk or separated from ammo. Loaded Magazines are Ok as well, as long as they aren't inserted in the gun. But to play it safe I would keep them unloaded and in a separate area.

If you follow FOPA standards you will be OK in the end.

Oh yeah, be very careful you stay out of DC city limits. That is where you will really run into problems. If you get caught with any ammo for a handgun and don't have a handgun owner permit from DC you will get busted for having illegal ammo possession. You might win in court, but it will be a hassle for sure.

On second thought, the data used to generate the map doesn't have a source. Yes, it came from city-data.com, but they don't state where it came from. Is it a survey? FBI NICS data? Suspect.

Having been to Darlington County, I question whether the data is suspect. :pop:

Thanks for all the advice re: driving to WV. I'm going to leave the pistol at home. Just not worth the potential trouble if I'd have to stop in MD for some reason and I don't have a locking case.

I've got my eye on a Savage 11 Hog Hunter in .308Win. .223 works with hogs but is a touch small, and the .338Win magazine holds one less round than the other two.

I think it'd be fun to keep it with iron sights and dial it in for about 50 yards. I probably won't hunt wild boar more than a handful of times but it'd be a nice rifle for shooting at the range. Save my fancy optics for the .300WM. The Savage supposedly has a nice heavy barrel which I like a lot.

I kind of want a lever action for the novelty, but they're just so archaic I don't really want the hassle. Maybe I'll find one at a gun show or something and, uhh, pull the trigger.
