Dustin Jeffrey Nailers or juniors?

Post by Geezer »

Even if Dustin Jeffrey continues to look good at the Pens camp and at the susequent WBS camp it would seen tough for him to make the WBS team with the logjam of forwards. My question is whether it would be better for Jeffrey's development to play another season as an overage junior player or to play in the ECHL with the Nailers.

Jeffrey still has another season in juniors to go (not overage). Check the article on the Pens' official site. That means that he will most likely come to WBS for the playoffs like Letang did.
Now that Jeffrey is in camp with the Penguins, he wants to take advantage of his surroundings.

“I am going to try to absorb as much as I can and talk to as many guys as I can and just see what it’s all about,â€￾ he said. “I am not old enough yet to go play in Wilkes-Barre/Scranton or anything, so it’s either here or back in Sault Ste. Marie, so I am just going to soak up as much as I can and just try to stay here as long as possible.â€￾

Jrs are the right move for him.
He worked his butt off in rookie camp, and EARNED this invite to regular camp.

This should only motivate him more, to work on his problem areas-skating-?, when he goes back, after seeing the Big show camp this early.

It would be a great story to see a low draft choice make good.

Jeffrey's run with the big boys has come to an end. Penguins assign 9 players back to wilkes Barre and Jeffery back to his junior club, the Soo Greyhounds. Had a good run.

Let's just hope he doesn't go the route of Bissonnette. However, he seems like a level-headed guy and I don't forsee that happening. Good to see a late round pick in a position to succeed
