Frankie Leroux signs with the Wheeling Nailers

Post by Nailers »

Apparently, Frankie Leroux still has an itch to play hockey. He signed today to play for the Wheeling Nailers of the ECHL.

Leroux was one of my favorite players when he was with the Pens. If I still lived it the burgh I'd make a trip to Wheeling to see him play.

Was he a decent fighter? I remember him playing, but can't remember if he was a decent pugilist.

I was at that game, back when I was 13 years old. It still ranks up there as one of my favorites. And Mario actually had five goals in the game, along with two assists, I believe.

I think Gretzky only had 2 assists on the night.

Jonathan Boumbulie is reporting Manson has retired, but the Nailers' site shows him on loan to WB/S.

he was in Johnstown last night and I missed it. :(

From the first time that they brought the cup here, I know there's at least one Frankie Leroux jersey in this town.

Prior to this, he was playing for St. Jean on the LNAH.

If I would have known he was looking to play beer league hockey for almost no pay, our rec league team needs a defenseman.

JS, Wheeling with Frankie Leroux will be in town again next Saturday night at 7pm. I got my ticket from a season ticket holder who can't make it due to being out of town so I plan on trying to get some pics of that one next Saturday. That is the last Johnstown home game until Dec 21-22 I believe when they are bringing back Jeff, Steve and Dave.
I'll definitely be there for that one. That's the Toys for Tots "Toy Toss Night". After the first goal, everybody throws a stuffed animal on the ice. If there's enough people in the place throwing, it's definitely a sight to be seen. But I do plan on taking a camera and I'll see if I can snap a few pics of ol' 16.
