Bissonnette playing on the wing

Post by Digitalgypsy66 »

Interesting tidbit from Bombulie's blog:
Richards said not only is he very happy with how Bissonnette has played on the wing, Bissonnette has also gone a long way to repairing his reputation in the organization. Richards said Bissonnette has opened some eyes in Pittsburgh with his recent play. I'm getting the impression that Pittsburgh might even consider making him a qualifying offer when he becomes an RFA in the summer. It really is a dramatic turn of events from training camp. Story all about it in tomorrow's paper.
Nice reclamation project, I guess.

And Nathan Smith was sent down on waivers...

I'm guessing that they are clearing room for Fluery by sending Smith down.

Fleury's already been on the roster for a week or so. I think they just wanted to get Minard into the lineup before he gets sent down and they're anticipating trades anyway which would have seen Smith go down. The roster's down to 22 now.

For Bissonnette this is probably his only road to the NHL since he wasn't likely to make it as a defenseman. Maybe he makes it as a goon.

I think I posted that Bissonette was on wing last Saturday against the Phantoms. All that shows is how weak we are at wing imo.

My bad for reposting. I guess I misspelled his name in the search.

At any rate, it's nice to see someone who was basically kicked out of the organization make amends and succeed on some level.

OK, I'm confused.

So Bissonnette almost made the Pens out of camp as an 18 year old D.
He fell out of favor for a bad attitude and got sent to the E.
He made the ECHL all star team as a defenseman.
Got called up to WBS as a defenseman.
Now he's a LW & heavyweight??

Huh?

Is his future as a D in the organization not as bright as his future as a LW glove dropper? I'm not following.

Got ya. I just never knew that A) he wasn't that high of a D prospect and B) that he had those kind of fists.
