Was at the game... some thoughts for those interested. I dont really fall the baby Pens all that much, so its most def a fresh look, haha!
I was very impressed with both goal scorers last night, McLean I believe his name is, is super quick, he was all over the ice it seemed. Was good along the boards.
Lannon is big... well compared to most of the others on the ice a few times I noticed. If he fills out he def has NHL size. He showed the confidence of doing things like Letang do instead of just dumping it he would pull back skate back into his end and get things going again.
And the rest.... Its really nice to have Nas down there, he was solid and I think the younger kids pick up on that. Gogo was kinda a now show... they were playing him physical, and he didnt do anything terrible, but didnt stand out as well, and almost got killed in the 2nd coming around his own net.
The fight was cheezy... the River Rats guy got in close and Bissonette couldnt let any fly... I would say both players got one good shot in, but on the way to the box the River Rats kid did an avery or Roy type gesture to the crowd.
Curry was in net, he is a big boy, the shots the Rats got were nothing to challenging... thought he went down a bit early on a few occascions. Not bad though.
The last thing that I noticed is how many faceoffs it seemed we won... I didnt keep track for sure... but it seemed like we won well over the 50% mark... would be nice to see this eventually transition to the big club.
Albany is the only place I have seen an AHL game, but I have to give them credit, they put on a decent show for being what it is!
