Caputi

Post by Henry Hank »

He had a goal and an assist today but Oshawa beat Niagara 5-2 to eliminate them from the OHL playoffs. Caputi was one of the top scorers during the regular season and carried that into the playoffs, but it wasn't enough. Next up looks like he'll be joining the Baby Pens right in time for the playoffs. Nick Johnson is already down there. We'll see how big a role he actually has but it can't hurt.

On a similar note, Dustin Jeffrey's Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds will face Robert Bortuzzo's Kitchener Rangers in the West Finals, so Jeffrey's trip to WBS will have to wait. The Pens are still pretty well represented in the CHL playoffs. Alex Grant and St. John are one win away from advancing, and he's been one of the highest scoring defensemen in the Q during the playoffs. Zabotel and Vancouver are facing elimination, down 3-2. Vellieux's team got bounced without him doing a lot. Quebec also got bounced with Esposito not really having a stellar playoff, although that's not Pens related anymore.

He had 8g 9a for 17 points in 10 games and was a +5. Those are excellant playoff stats. Glad we kept him and gave up that bum Espo.

Keven Veilleux will turn 19 this June so he could not play for WBS next fall, but Jeffrey (2-27-88) and Caputi (10-1-88) will both be 20 so they could. I expect Caputi to sign his three year entry level deal any day now, he's ready for the AHL.
