Baby Pens sign Reid Cashman

Post by Penalty Killer »

WILKES-BARRE, PA – The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins have signed defenseman Reid Cashman to an American Hockey League contract, it was announced on Thursday by Pittsburgh Penguins Assistant General Manager Chuck Fletcher.

Cashman, 25, split last season between the Toronto Marlies (AHL) and the Columbia Inferno (ECHL). He posted three assists and eight penalty minutes in eight games with the Marlies, and 27 points (5+22) and 60 penalty minutes in 41 games with the Inferno.

The 6-2, 205 pound native of Red Wing, Minnesota spent four seasons at Quinnipiac University, recording 148 points (23+125) in 151 games.

I had the pleasure of watching Cashman in the Kelly Cup playoffs last year with the Columbia Inferno. He's a hard working, big hitter, with some offensive upside. A very good depth signing.

So you live in Columbia? Nice. There seem to be tons of us here.

And interestingly enough, tons of Pittsburghers in Myrtle Beach right now.

Back on topic, this sounds like a good depth signing by the Pens.

Several members of my immediate family have moved there recently. Though one is now home visiting for two weeks. It seems to be a decent area. My wife sure likes going there to visit. I just am not a beach and ocean breeze person. Reminds me too much of the service.

Nah, I just go to school down there and was a game day intern with the Inferno the past two seasons.

Big hitter with only 1 career fight

Interesting.

Although losing Bonvie, the Pens still have plenty of toughness
