Veilleux probably done for the season

I didn't see this posted, but JBomb has posted in his blog that Veilleux is done for the season with shoulder surgery.

Starting with injuries, as we often do this season, Keven Veilleux is likely done for the year due to a shoulder injury. He’s scheduled for surgery Dec. 29.

Coach Todd Reirden: “It was something we spent a lot of time with organizationally, (evaluating) the best situation for one of your top young prospects. Eventually it was going to have to get done or it was going to keep being a recurring problem. There’s always a chance (Veilleux could return) at the end of the year. Everyone recovers at different rates. But certainly, right now, it’s an outside possibility that he’ll be able to join us.”

It’s a blow to the Penguins because Veilleux is such an intriguing prospect, but if he was going to need surgery eventually, best get it over with as soon as possible, I guess.

Blah. I was hoping he wouldn't need surgery, but it didn't look good. Hopefully he gets on his horse in the offseason and is ready to play next year.

Definitely sad news, looking forward to his return.

He was starting to heat up right before he was injured..
