WBS Penguins - 3rd Jersey-they get the blue

I'm jealous! Not for Bonvie, the jersey.
The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins unveiled their new alternate sweater for the 2006-07 season today at the Ice Box in Pittston . The jersey will be worn during select home contests during the upcoming American Hockey League campaign.
The predominately white jersey is similar to the home sweater worn by the parent Pittsburgh Penguins from 1968-71, replacing the Pittsburgh skating Penguin and the wording 'Pittsburgh Penguins' with the AHL Pens fierce bird and the wording 'Wilkes-Barre Scranton'.
Light blue striping on both the arm and bottom of the sweater is highlighted by a darker blue, while the deeper color wrings both wrists and the lighter blue adorns the shoulders.

Bonvie looks pretty excited there.

I like the jerseys. I'm hoping the Adult Pens get alts somewhat like those.

Yet another great alternate jersey for WBS. I have yet to see one that is at all hideous. Even the St. Patty's ones look good.

I don't like it - the jersey or the player.

I've liked all of WBS' third jerseys...especially the gold ones, but I just don't care for the inverted triangle/muscle Penguin combo...I feel like the triangle is irrelevant for WBS. This is a nice jersey though

I can't exactly put my finger on what it is that I dislike about it. There's something not quite 'right' about it for me. Like, maybe the logo on the front needs to be bigger or something - almost as though there's too much white space. *shrug*

It's the baby blue color... Night as well put a nappy and booties on them while they are at it...

LOL. I thought maybe that was it but then I hastily (read: crappily) edited it in Photoshop and I still think there's too much empty space on the front. (Though I think I might like it better with the 'gold' color.)

I totally agree...it is an awesome jersey...but it need a larger logo on the front. I would like to see the regular skating penguin logo used for the big club...the same size that it is on the jerseys right now. And they might add verticle blue and black stripes to the bottom of the jersey like they have now...this will eliminate the white and give the jersey a modern retro look.

Eliminate the circle, make the Penguin the size of the circle and put W-B, Scranton either across the Penguins' chest or above and below the Penguin??!? I think that'd be much better.
The Penguin is way too small.

If you've followed the WBS Penguins for any length of time, you will realize that they are using different throwback Pitt Pens jerseys as their 3rd. So far, they have done the late 70s dark blue jerseys, 80s yellow/white with the golden triangle behind the Penguin, and now the early 70s light blue with the circle around the Penguins logo.

They also use currently the diagonal lettering across the front like the 90s away jerseys and the original 67-68 jerseys for their warmups.

I have the Pittsburgh jersey that this one is modeled after but the away version and I'm a fan. They shouldn't have picked the home one to model after.
