ISIS Crisis

At this point, I am kind of wondering when the rest of the Islamic states are going to step in and take action. Not that any of them have had a particularly sterling reputation, but ISIS represents an unprecedented threat in that part of the world, and God forbid they expand their operations elsewhere.

The level of barbarity, genocide, and extremism is unprecedented, even by al-Qaeda standards.

lol, this definitely looks like a NAN thread, but I think it warrants discussion. Especially considering ISIS has a lot of sympathizers throughout the western world (most notably in Europe, like the UK, etc)

They won't or by the time they do realize they are a threat it will be too late. They are exterminating the minority, but eventually ISIS will be larger than current majorities and they will be screwed.

I can tell you from first hand experience that the DoD uses social network analysis extensively to track and monitor these organizations, these tweets are more detrimental than they realize.

Recent estimates are that around 100 American citizens have joined ISIS. Has anyone's views changed about killing them as they did to Anwar al-Awlaki?

The human race disgusts me. It really does. What is all that for? Really, in the end, a bunch of nothing.

With that said, there was an ISIS propaganda video I saw recently on Liveleak. it was showing "dead" bodies, under sheets on a city street. These people were supposed to have been executed as well. In the video, you can clearly see the people moving under the sheets. One person even looks up in a way as if he was saying "Are we done yet?" So, what can you really believe?

There were a lot of complaints here that al-Awlaki was droned without due process (Shyster, Tif, EPP, Shaf etc from what I remember but correct me if I'm wrong).

Kurds 'take Iraq oilfields from IS' http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-middle-east-28987837" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

At least the Kurds have rebounded from some defeats. They are getting some confidence, and making progress.

My opinion on that remains the same. Targeted drone strikes are, imo, an immoral and illegal exercise of executive authority. There may well be a construct where they are acceptable, but they way they've been conducted the last ten years is simply not kosher.
