LGP Beer Madness (IPA Edition) - Regional Final
Time for the regional finals. Vote for one beer in each pair. You do not have to vote for every matchup. Only vote for beers you have actually had so that beers don't win on reputation. If you have had one of them, but not the other, don't feel like you have to vote for it just because you've tried it.

Also, most anything by Stone can hit the list. For the sake of argument, Arrogant Bastard.

I have. I was just trying to think of NC's most prevalent IPA. Wicked Weed's stuff is also tremendous.MWB wrote:Have you tried anything from NoDa?legame wrote:Southeast: Foothills Hoppyum

I don't know that it will, just because of limited availability.

Re: LGP Beer Madness (IPA Edition)
Yeah, Hoppyum is probably most prevalent. Not a huge fan of anything I've had from Foothills though. Not bad, just not great for me. I love NoDa's Hop Drop and Roll. Definitely a top 5 IPA. I also really like their Jam Session. I'll have to look for Wicked Weed. Haven't noticed it before.legame wrote:I have. I was just trying to think of NC's most prevalent IPA. Re: LGP Beer Madness (IPA Edition)
Northeast:
Dogfish head 60 minute deserves a spot along with 90 minute, IMO.
Victory Hopdevil
Fatheads Headhunter (brewed in Cleveland so maybe Midwest instead?)
Southeast:
Eeek... Not sure I know anything from southest
Midwest:
Bells Hopslam
West:
Sculpin IPA
Deschutes Fresh squeezed
Russian River Blind Pig and Pliney the Elder
Oskar Blues Deviant Dale's IPA (Colorado is West rather than midwest, right?)
These are just off the top of my head. I'll look into it tomorrow when I haven't had a few too many beers to really look.

Southeast is a bit of a concern in terms of quantity and quality. Not sure how else to split it though.

Re: LGP Beer Madness (IPA Edition)
Cigar City Jai Alai is one of the finest IPAs in the United States, easily.
Terrapin Hopsecutioner is a good IPA too (Georgia).
Sweetwater IPA (Atlanta) is also great.
Admittedly, this is the limit of my SE IPA experience.

Not saying there aren't good options, but comparatively speaking, it's a weak region. Need to look for Jai Alai.

I hear you...I would imagine it's more available in your neck of the woods. Only time I've had it is on tap in the Outer Banks, and it was fantastic.MWB wrote:Not saying there aren't good options, but comparatively speaking, it's a weak region. Need to look for Jai Alai.

You'd think, but based on my search and their website there's nothing near me.

Re: LGP Beer Madness (IPA Edition)
Creature Comforts Tropicalia is one of the best IPAs I have ever had. They are out of Athens, GA and are canning their beers now. You can pretty much only find their cans in the Athens area right now but they are going to expand to Atlanta at the end of the month. The only IPAs I would pick over Tropicalia are White Oak Jai Alai, Founders Harvest, and Deschutes Fresh Squeezed. Burnt Hickory is finally bottling their IPAs now too. Cannon Dragger bottles are all over Atlanta now and they are supposed to be bottling Didjits too. Totally agree the south's beer scene is lacking behind just about every other region though.
The only IPAs I haven't had on the above list are Heady, Hoppyum, Galaxy White, and Headhunter.

Re: LGP Beer Madness (IPA Edition)
Think we will need to adjust this a little. Maybe the highest rated and most well known will go into the regions. Then we will have a wildcard section and vote those into the next "round."
