Could you please use see/seen correctly.no name wrote:As far as I can remember pulling the goalie being down by 2 goals wasn't seen at all until either this season or last season. Back in the 90s you never ever seen a team pull their goalie down by 2 unless it was the playoffs. I can't think of any reason you would need to pull being down by 2, the chances of you scoring 2 goals to tie are not very high. Considering I think Mike Lange said goals are only scored at a 8% success rate.

Re: Matt Murray
“Saw” is the simple past tense form of “see.” It is something that happened in the past and is over and done with. For example, “I saw the movie yesterday."no name wrote:Please show me how that should of been written.Idoit40fans wrote:Could you please use see/seen correctly.no name wrote:As far as I can remember pulling the goalie being down by 2 goals wasn't seen at all until either this season or last season. If you want to use "seen", you need a helper verb with it. "I seen" is incorrect, "I have seen" utilizes a helper verb and is therefore correct.
Also, it's "should have" or "should've", not "should of".

I just don't understand how these very common errors continue to happen. What exactly do they teach in school? Are they not correcting these errors? If a kid starts saying "I seen" in the third grade, wouldn't it be corrected by the time they graduate highschool? If you have to write papers or reports, how is it that people still don't know the difference between your and you're? Or there, their, and they're?meow wrote:Not sure how I missed those two.mikey287 wrote:grammer*; weather*
This isn't a knock on anyone on here, but more a knock on the school system. This new notion of pushing kids through and not failing them is accomplishing nothing. Why even go to school if you can't fail and don't have to learn proper grammar? Isn't the whole point of attending school to learn? These students that never learned the proper usage of words are probably teachers now too. Scary.
/end rant.
As for Murray, I agree with Mikey in that he's played less than 50 games at the AHL level and needs more time. He's not going to develop sitting on the bench behind Fleury who already plays a ton of games. As great as Murray has been this year, we need to see what he can do next year. Obviously if this type of play continues, he's going to have to get a look sometime, but it remains to be seen if this play will carry over to next season.
He's a hometown boy for me, my friend coaches him in the summer, and I still don't want to rush him into anything. Let's see what we have in a couple years.

Kids don't read anything of value any longer. As an "educator" I learned early on that things go easier when kids pass opposed to when they fail. At some point individuals need to accept personal resposibilty imo rather than blaming the system. A system where everyone receives free education until 18. A system that still manages to produce people who start up microsoft, apple, etc.
If someone doesn't care nothing can change that.

That’s how scholarly linguists work. Instead of having some rule book of what is “correct” usage, they examine the evidence of how native and fluent nonnative speakers do in fact use the language. Whatever is in general use in a language (not any use, but general use) is for that reason grammatically correct.

School is hardly free, we do pay taxes for schools and teachers. Also; if an educator feels that it is easier to pass kids instead of failing them, then are the educators really doing their job? That would mean they are just as at fault for under-educated children as the children themselves.

A little drifted from the Matt Murray discussion but my 2 cents on this is that people (adults + children) value grades much more than knowledge.Skatingpen wrote:School is hardly free, we do pay taxes for schools and teachers. Re: Grammarrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!
I think if more kids became readers when they are young, and continued to read (not just in school) that it wouldn't be the problem that it is. There are so many people out there that miss out on gaining extra knowledge by not picking up a good book every now and then.
