WHEELING, WV- The Wheeling Nailers, proud ECHL affiliate of the Pittsburgh Penguins and Montreal Canadiens, are excited to announce their opening weekend uniforms for the 2012-13 season. This uniform will only be worn during the opening weekend of the season, and it marks the fourth different uniform that the team will wear.
This season's opening weekend jersey is proudly sponsored by Yuengling and are based off of the Winter Classic uniforms worn by the parent club Pittsburgh Penguins. The base color of the jersey is blue, and it is trimmed in a lighter shade of blue, along with white, which creates a striped patern along the bottom and arms of the sweater. The front crest of the jersey is also designed similar to the Penguins, as the logo is in a circle, with the text, "WHEELING NAILERS," and the red and black shield in the center. The numbers on the backs and sleeves are white, outlined in light blue, and the letters on the backs are also white. The Pittsburgh Penguins' logo is on the right shoulder, and the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins' logo is on the left shoulder. Blue pants, with one light blue stripe and two white stripes, as well as blue socks, striped in light blue and white, complete the opening night uniform.
These uniforms will be donned by the Nailers on October 26th and October 27th, when the team plays host to the Reading Royals at WesBanco Arena.
Following the games the jerseys will be raffled off at each Nailers home game in the front lobby.
