NHR Chess

Post by PensFanInDC »

So how do we want to make this work? Should we do PM moves, a thread for each game, or one thread for all games (too confusing IMO).

http://www.chess.com/analysis-board-editor is a good editor. Just have to turn on the coordinates.

I'd be in to at least give it a shot. Like I mentioned in JTOR. Total newb here. I think a thread would be fun for people maybe wanting to watch. I think I'd be interested in seeing people's playing styles.

PFIDC, do you wanna play a game just to see how it'll go?

Just like NHR poker and NHR 500, post with a move in standard notation.

If there are better options, we'll explore them. I don't know the possibilities of that link you provided. Can we record games there or would we just be using it for our reference?

The absolute key is that everyone MUST agree not to use chess software or manuals or tutorials. It must be just like sitting over a board. It's critical that we adhere to this rule since, let's face it, the simplest chess software out there nowadays will beat the pants off any of us.

White or black, PFIDC? Doesn't matter to me.

I don't mind losing as long as I learn from it. So yeah, no chess software is a must, for sure.

I'll go white I guess. As for notation, I have never used it before so I am still trying to learn it. I posted a notation guide above that I am going to use to learn.

I will use http://www.chess.com/analysis-board-editor for the game so you should too. I click on position set up and turn coordinates on for easy reference if you need it. I say we use a capital P for pawn moves so that nobody gets confused.

I haven't played a game of chess in about 6 years so I expect to get pounded.

I'll start in my next post.

Ohhh this is good! So I meant Bb5. How do we want to handle this? Should I edit or make a new post correcting the error. Needless to say we should all be very diligent about making sure we post the proper move.

I think we should try and find a board that allows copy and pasting of the board image. Not sure if that is possible though.
